"So, how did you two meet?" his friend asks us, and the three of us speak at the same time.

"We bumped into each other—"

"My car ran out of fuel—"

"She sped by me—"

Kai squints towards me for a second before answering. "Tooru and I have been bumping into each other for some time now, so one day I found his socials and we hit it off. I'm sorry, you two know each other?" she asks, glancing at him.

"I helped King this morning with her car; she ran out of petrol on the road," he explains, and she looks towards me.

"Why didn't you tell me that?" she asks, and I shrug my shoulders.

"He was a stranger at the time; I didn't know he was the guy going to take you out on a date," I say, and she relaxes.

"Doesn't seem like much of a stranger to you," she mutters, and this time I turn to face her.

"What do you mean by that?" I ask, but she walks off. I quickly gather our things and follow after her, calling out so we can talk properly outside.

"Kai, what's gotten into you?" I ask, catching up to her, and she scoffs.

"Are you serious? Like I haven't noticed him looking at you the whole night? You're supposed to be talking to his friend, not trying to seduce my date," she accuses.

"Seduce your what— Kai, are you serious?" I ask, taken aback, and she looks me up and down.

"Oh come on, King, I know you. You flirted with him when he helped you out. Why else is he even looking at you like that? He's more interested in you in less than twenty-four hours while I have been trying to gain his attention for weeks. You're obviously more his type than I am," she says, her tone bitter, and guilt creeps in on me.

"If I knew it was him, I would have stayed far. How was I supposed to know when you never let me see his face?" I defend myself, but it only seems to frustrate her more.

"THAT IS EXACTLY WHY I DIDN'T WANT YOU TO SEE HIM—" she starts to yell, but when she sees the shock on my face, she calms down. "Just, if you wanted him, you could have let me know beforehand. Doesn't matter anyways. Just know that you owe me," Kai says before walking back inside and leaving me standing there. It's hard to process everything she said so quickly, but thinking can wait; I don't want to ruin this date any further.

I take some deep breaths before heading back inside to find Kai sitting back down with the boys and talking to them.

"Oh wait, sorry, I'm in your seat," she says as I approach, and I wave her off.

"A chair's a chair; it's all okay," I reply, but she ends up shuffling to the outside, forcing me to move in. She immediately starts talking to his friend and manages to get some words out of him, and I glance between the two.

"Jealous?" Tooru asks me.

"What? Not at all. I just want her to have a good day," I say, trying to brush off the accusation.

"This date isn't exactly going to plan," he sighs, and I roll my eyes.

"Tell me about it," I reply awkwardly, trying to avoid eye contact. However, every time I look at the two, Kai seems quick to make some sort of flirty move to try and seduce him, even though her date is right in front of her. It doesn't seem to bother him, though; he appears perfectly fine with her moving on.

Oikawa and I make a few jokes about the two and how well they're getting on with each other. I notice Kai's change from flirting to genuinely enjoying her company and warming up to him.
