"Come on, bring it in," King says, seeing your teary eyes. You hug her tightly, and she laughs loudly. "Was Canada that lonely?" she asks as you wipe your tears.

"I can't say I hated the quiet," you joke, and she sighs.

"Regardless, I hope you got the peace you needed," she says.

"I did, but nothing beats home," you reply, and she kisses your forehead.

"Then welcome home."

You put your bag in the boot of her car, and she shuts it before you both get in. "So, what's been happening while I've been away?" you ask.

"Same old, same old," she brushes off, but you look at her concerned. "WELL, not the SAME old, but the new normal old. Everyone is just doing their own thing," she quickly explains.

"Who's doing what?" you press, and she takes a moment to think.

"Uhh, no idea what Oikawa is doing. Pretty sure Hanamaki is engaged or married or something. Matsukawa is traveling, I think. He always seems to be somewhere different on my feed. Iwaizumi still has his gym. I've left it, though; it felt a bit awkward—" she rambles, but you stop her.

"What happened between you and my brother?" you ask, and she shrugs.

"Nothing, I broke it off," she says casually, and you felt upset.

"What? Why? Did you get convicted with the case?" you ask as she starts the car and begins to drive.

"No, thank God. Actually, with that case, Kai pleaded guilty," she tells you, and you let her words sink in.

"So, what happened between you two?" you ask.

"Honestly, things just got weird a little when you left. I think we blamed ourselves a lot for not being better in the situation for your sake. Once you decided to leave and do better for yourself, we also wanted the same and not be reminded of our past together," she explains.

"There were so many secrets and lies we both acted out on, thinking we were helping your case, that we realized if we wanted to be together, we would have to be better first. Well, that was the original plan," she adds sarcastically. "We tried that, but we both ended up just focusing on ourselves and drifted apart. I haven't talked or seen anything about him in a few years," she says, and you were shocked.

"Years?! But how come I never knew—no, never mind. You guys were just respecting my choices," you say, and she nods.

"So, how is he doing?" she asks, and you nod.

"He's good. Still continuing his career, so he's enjoying his life," you tell her, and she hums.

"Cool, cool," she responds, and you know she's being sarcastic, but you don't press further. "Wait, did you say Makki is married?" you change the topic, and she speaks up again.

"I mean, it looks like they just went on a honeymoon. Look, they've got that marriage glow to them. Can't tell me otherwise," King says as she shows you her phone while driving.

"No way," you exclaim as you see all the photos of the holiday on Shiloh's Instagram. "That's crazy—so things have changed," you explain, but King scoffs.

"Let's pray it's for the better," she says, and you shoot her a look.

"What's that supposed to mean?" you ask, and she sighs heartily.

"Nothing bad! Just it's hard to move on when you were once at that stage too," she says, and your eyes widen.

"My brother proposed?!"
