14. 57th Expedition

AUTHOR'S POV:

It was the night before the 57th expedition. The new recruits were nervous. The Survey Corps will go through Throst district to reach the forest of giant trees. This expedition was just a test run before retaking Wall Maria, well that's what everyone were told. All the preparations like testing the thunder spears were done.

This time, Annie didn't kill Hange's 2 titans test subjects, Bean and Sawney.

Eren and Mikasa were sitting infront of the pond. As usual, Eren was laying on the ground while his head was on Mikasa's lap and Mikasa was stroking his silky brown hair. They were just enjoying eachother's company.

They sat there in a comfortable silence for a few moments until Mikasa spoke up.

"Eren?"

"Yeah Mikasa ?"

"Can you promise me that... You will be safe tomorrow ?..." Mikasa said in a sad tone.

Eren quickly sat up and looked at her. He put her hand on top of Mikasa's.

"Mikasa... I have healing ability... Don't worry about me."

"But still... What if Reiner defeats you ?" Mikasa said looking down.

Eren slowly lifted her chin.

"Mikasa... I can't die as long as you are with me." Eren said with a smile.

Mikasa smiled a bit too.

"You have to be careful too Mikasa. Don't just throw away your life just to protect me. You are humanity's second strongest soilder. We can't afford to lose you. Ok Mikasa ?" Eren said.

Mikasa looked down.

"Ok Eren."

After another silence, Eren spoke up.

"It's getting late. Let's go Mikasa." Eren said, getting up.

Mikasa got up too. They made their way to their dorm. As usual, they kissed and said Goodnight to eachother.

As of now, all of their friends knew about their relationship. They all were happy for them too.

'A long day is waiting for me... Could I defeat him ?... I have defeated him before too... If it wasn't because of the jaw titan, I could have easily defeated him without the power of the War hammer titan back then... Let's see what happens tomorrow....' Eren thought and dozed off to sleep.

The soilders were preparing for the expedition. All of them were wearing their ODM gears and preparing their swords. The squad members were given thunder spears.

Eren was done preparing. He was in the stable. Then Mikasa arrived at the stable. She had a worried face.

When she noticed Eren, she rushed towards him and hugged him. Eren hugged her back. Then Mikasa started speaking.

"Eren, please be careful. Ok? If anything happens, I will protect you." Mikasa said.

"I will be careful Mikasa. Don't worry and don't throw away your life just to save me. Ok?" Eren replied, pulling away from the hug.

Mikasa just stared at him for a moment before kissing him on his lips. Eren kissed her back. After a moment, they broke the kiss.

"Take care Eren." Mikasa said with a smile.

"You too Mikasa."

With that, Mikasa left with her horse.

Eren looked at her departure. He sighed.
