15. Those Eyes

AUTHOR'S POV:

The following night Eren and Mikasa were sitting infront of the pond as usual in comfortable silence. Eren was just thinking of plans for his next tasks. Then he spoke up.

"Mikasa."

"Hmm?" Mikasa replied, stroking his hair.

"What do you think Dina will think of me ?"

"What do you mean Eren?" Mikasa asked with confusion.

"I mean I am her late husband's son... Will she hate me or..." Eren trailed off.

Mikasa cupped his cheeks and said:

"That is something she only knows... Who knows what is going to happen..." Mikasa replied.

"Yeah... You are right Mikasa."

After another comfortable silence, Eren spoke up.

"Mikasa, can I ask you something ?" Eren said, sitting up.

"Ofcourse you can Eren." Mikasa replied, looking at him.

"What made you fall in love with me ? I mean I was being rude to you back then... But still, you chose me. Why ?" Eren asked.

Then Eren slapped himself in his mind.

'I hope I didn't ruin the moment...'

Mikasa just looked ahead and smiled, which relived Eren.

"I don't know Eren... I don't think there is an answer to this question... When you wrapped this scarf around me that day, I felt like I could do anything for you... I didn't know what this feeling was back then, but with time, I came to know that I had fallen in love with you... You even strained your hands with blood to save someone you didn't even know before... Even if you were rude to me, it never changed my love for you... That's it Eren..." Mikasa explained.

Both of them made eye contact and smiled.

Slowly, they leaned forward and kissed eachother.

It was the next day of 57th expedition. Hange, Levi and Erwin were now at the room where Dina was admitted. They were waiting for her to wake up. Hange even brought food for her.

After an hour, Dina's eyes twitched. Everyone were now looking at her. She slowly opened her eyes. She was trying to adjust her vision to the sun light. After a few minutes, she slowly sat up and looked around, confused.

"I am glad you woke up. Now, you should eat something." Hange said and placed her food in front of her.

Dina was more confused.

"Where am I ?" Who are you ?" Dina said with confusion.

"I am the Commander of Survey Crops, Erwin Smith and we are the people of Paradise." Erwin said with a smile.

Dina was surprised. Then the memories hit her. She remembered how she was tortured and sent to Paradise. She held her head. She teared up a bit too. The three of them didn't say anything.

After a few minutes, Dina spoke up.

"How did I become a human then ?" Dina asked, looking at Erwin.

"Ummm... You ate a titan shifter..." Hange said.

Dina's eyes widened.

"Re-really?"

"Yes."

Then she remembered about Grisha.

'It would be stupid to ask... Grisha is probably a mindless titan now...' Dina thought and sighed.

"You should eat something now. And take rest." Hange said.
