Just like any other parent, Wonwoo's mother and father have warned him and his siblings about who he should and should not trust. Because trust is a very important factor in how humanity lives in society.
They told them that trust is how people figure out the value of someone in their life. Whether their part in your life is important, meaningless, trivial, valuable, or has no place to be in your life at all. All of those can be determined by just how much we trust someone.
Though for someone who you know is a person who you can never ever trust, not even with the smallest of things, their value is even lower than the lowest level. 'Cause when someone is just really untrustworthy, you would want them to have no part in your life. And when something or someone is just so unimportant that they don't even deserve a place in your life, then they don't even have any value at all.
But in the case when someone is who you can trust with your whole life, where they have earned your trust by being dependable and true, then the value that that person has in your life is simply immeasurable. They have become someone so valuable that their presence in your life is irreplaceable. Because having someone you can trust with heart and soul, is something worth treasuring.
Now a complete stranger has a very low value in your life. Why? Because you don't trust them. Because the level of trust that you have with a complete stranger is close to zero. But not completely zero.
Because at least with a stranger you can trust them enough to walk among them on the street. At least with a stranger, you can let them handle your food in a restaurant. At least with a stranger, you can trust them to sit with you on the train. At least you can trust a stranger to live among them. Why? 'Cause, they've yet to do you any wrong.
Wonwoo's parents taught them these things. They were wise like that. And Wonwoo wishes that he'll just be as wise.
But now Wonwoo thinks that that wish always just be a wish now. Something that can never be a reality.
Because he trusted someone. He trusted that person more than he trusted anyone in this world. Even more than with himself. He trusted him with the very thing that was keeping him breathing.
He trusted Jun with his heart. Expecting him to cherish and treasure the value that was trusted to him. But he destroyed both of them in the end.
Jun broke both Wonwoo's trust. And he broke Wonwoo's heart.
So it seems that Wonwoo's wish of being just as wise and amazing as both his mom and dad is something that will just stay as a dream.
Because he was foolish for not believing his parents when they said that Jun was not good for him. He was foolish to believe that man rather than people he'd wish to be.
And he is also very foolish right now to start trusting this persistent and very annoying asshole named Mingyu.
They were now walking on the sidewalk with their hands interlocked because Mingyu was very determined to keep holding Wonwoo's hand. No matter how much Wonwoo tried to get it off, he still can't make his own hand budge!
Wonwoo can't believe himself.
That first night was excusable because of the amount of alcohol that Wonwoo has had. But there was no excuse this time.
He willingly let himself come to Mingyu's house, talk with the guy, and now, he's letting himself be taken to who knows goddamn where! And wasn't Wonwoo supposed to be the one who'll take the guy to a meal?! Why is Mingyu the one dragging him?!
They were both practically strangers!
Well, not totally.
They were at least able to become acquainted that drunken night and at the morning after. So there is some idea of what the other person was like.
