Lots of people might say that promises are meant to be broken, but Wonwoo believes that you shouldn't make a promise you don't intend to keep. Because promises can make people start to have hope. And hope is very powerful.
Promises can give hope that a child might finally get the newest video game he's been promised, hope that a worker might finally get the vacation she's worked so hard for, hope that a woman might finally get married to the man she loves, or hope that you will be with a person's life with the rest of yours.
But once those promises are broken, all those things that people have hoped for, start to break their hearts. Because they can no longer have those things they were promised. Things that they trusted would come.
No longer can a child have his new video game, no longer can an employee have a rest, no longer can a woman have her dream wedding, and no longer can a man have the person he loves the most be by their side for the rest of his life.
And those were things that were promised to them. But the people who promised them those things broke their promises.
That was why Wonwoo is now currently sitting with a guy that he finds very annoying. Because this guy made Wonwoo promise something. And Wonwoo fully plans on fulfilling that promise, damn it!
Even if said guy was very creepy.
"Finally decided to give in, eh? I told you people always fall for my smile," Said Mingyu. "Cute name though, Wonwoo." Mingyu gave Wonwoo a smile along with another wink.
"You're so full of yourself aren't you?" Wonwoo replied while giving Mingyu another deadpan stare. He's still trying to appear uninterested in the guy.
"Well, all of these-" Mingyu said while he motioned at himself. "Would become such a waste if I don't become confident thanks to them."
Dude's got a point. If you got it, flaunt it.
"Well you could try to tone down the confidence a little bit, you know. So you could at least look humble," Wonwoo suggested. "People like humble."
"Would you start liking me if I would?" Mingyu asked with a smirk.
Man, this guy is very serious about flirting with Wonwoo.
"Maybe." Wonwoo shrugged as he downs another shot of whiskey.
He doesn't want to give the guy too much hope. Wonwoo still wasn't sure how this night is going to go. And he doesn't want to give Mingyu the wrong idea that he's interested just because he decided to tell the guy his name. But he still wants to keep the guy's company. So Wonwoo doesn't want to reject him too quickly.
So he's going with maybe. Maybe can mean many things. And Wonwoo would like to keep his options many.
"Well, then maybe I'll start being humble," Said Mingyu, still smiling as he put his right elbow on the table with his cheek in hand looking directly at Wonwoo.
"Really?" asked Wonwoo not believing him one bit.
"Probably not." Mingyu gave a little laugh. Which, though Wonwoo hates to admit it, was quite adorable.
Maybe the alcohol's finally starting to take effect, Thought Wonwoo. Yeah, that's it.
Wonwoo just sighed at him and ordered another drink.
"Aren't you even going to order anything?" Asked Wonwoo. He's in a freaking Bar! The guy should at least buy one drink.
"Okay then," Mingyu then started tapping his chin while humming as if he was contemplating what he was going to order. "Can I order one adorable Wonwoo?" Said Mingyu as he looked at Wonwoo, giving him another wink.
