"Auntie Y/N, let's play hide-and-seek!" Morgan tugs on your sleeve, leading you to her tent in the garden of Tony's and Pepper's house by the lake, "Dad will seek us!"
You accepted their offer to move in with them after you mourned your husband. You didn't want to be alone, your big brother didn't want you to be alone and neither would Buck want you to be alone.
"Where are you hiding, monsters?" Tony exclaims playfully, his figure casting a shadow on the tent's walls. "Time to eat!" He pokes his head in.
Watching him lifting his daughter up in his arms with a resounding grunt, you know his back hurts again. You'll heal him after the dinner.
Exploring your gift has become your coping mechanism. In a moment you've stopped resisting it, you were able to make it work both-ways, evolved into a telepath and built up a mental wall – Barrier – to block everything coming from the outside.
In a nick of time, you extended your power to a physical level. It was difficult and caused extreme enervation - not that it would ever stop you from making Tony's backache, Morgan's cold or Pepper's migraine go away.
On your way home following after your family, you hear a car pulling up on a driveway.
And there they are. People you haven't seen for years. People you haven't felt for years. The two people you used to be closest with - besides Tony and Bucky - are standing in front of you, nodding to greet you silently.
But they are not alone. How is that possible? Scott was gone.
------
"What? No, this is absolutely crazy, you can't be serious. That's impossible, that's not how quantum physics works," you shake your head, thinking your friends are nuts when talking about a time machine. Or 'time heist' - Scott's words.
"We can snap our own fingers and bring everyone back," Natasha says persuasively, her eyes piercing you.
"I'm gonna stop you right there, Scott. Are you seriously telling me that your plan to save the universe is based on Back To The Future?" Your brother has obviously the same opinion you have.
"...a lot of people lost someone important to them. Even your sister did," Scott continues the conversation you no longer listen to. Your mind trails off to the past.
The next thing you know is your friends leaving with expression of disappointment and sadness in their faces. In faces you used to see almost every day, in faces you still love.
------
"Tony," you rip your brother out of his thoughts when walking in the kitchen to make yourself tea.
"Mhm?" He hums, watching a picture of you, Bucky, him and Pepper from a trip on a beach.
"You are considering it, aren't you," you turn on a kettle and reach for a cup.
"Don't read me," he pleads softly, fidgeting with the framed photo.
"I don't read you. I can see it all over your face," whistling kettle lets you know the water is boiled.
"You are considering it. I saw it in your face," he puts the picture back in its place and locks his gaze with yours. "They'll try it anyway..."
"...but they won't succeed without us," you conclude the thought for him.
"Hey! I told you not to read me," he walks over to you and hits your shoulder in a childish manner.
"We're siblings. Both geniuses. We think in a similar way," you tap a finger against the side of your head, "I don't need this to see that your wheels are turning."
"Very well, my ingenious sister. Let's get your still-in-his-emo-phase husband back."
