Laney POV

"You fucking up B.." Black told me once I explained the foster care story to him. I can't trust nobody with my secret.

"So you gone let me hide out here?" I asked. He shook his head.

"You gone have to leave Atlanta B. I heard North Carolina dope as fuck too." He told me.

"Naw fuck that. I ain't running no more." I shook my head and crossed my arms.

"Well you can't stay here girl. Do you not know all the illegal shit I got in here?! I could hook you up with this dope ass spot I got off in Peachtree." He suggested. I stared at him.

I ain't never depended on a nigga to protect me and I ain't finna start now! I almost forgot who I was.

"Peace.." I threw up my peace sign to Black and headed for the door.

"Yo Mya." He stopped me. I looked at him over my shoulder. He began digging in his desk.

"Protect yourself from them feds." He tossed me a pretty ass 9mm.

"Word up.." I said before headed out the door. I feel like a dead woman walking. I put my hood on and tucked the gun in my pants.

I began walking down the sidewalk until I got to my apartment. I looked around me before I walked into my building. Everybody was outside the doors whispering about something.

"What happened?" I asked this old lady that always speak to me in the morning.

"The young girl that was living in 407 ran off and left her son." The old lady shook her head.

"Where the lil boy at?" I asked. Thats when I saw the coroners rolling a black bag down the hall. Everyone covered their mouth in shock.

"The lil boy starved to death." The old lady said sadly. They passed us with the small bag and my heart dropped.

I stood in the far distance of the big crowd as they rolled Jamal's lifeless body out of the hotel. My dark shades covered the hurt in my eyes.

"Girl that's the notorious Jamal." I heard a girl whisper to another girl.

"I bet Laney across the boarder by now." The other girl laughed.

"I knew he was a body when I first saw him come into the hotel." The hotel manager shook his head.

"That girl is the mastermind of it all! Jamal just was in love." A husband told his wife.

"Laney Cole gone be hard to find." This young thug was telling his crew.

"Hell yea. I heard she was running off to Canada or something." Another boy said.

I stood there listening to what people thought of Jamal and I. It hurt but I ain't no punk. I'm just gone move in silence.

Christian POV

I sat in class waiting for Mya. She ain't been to school in three days and I'm getting worried. Every time I go to her house she ain't there. Im starting to think the foster care caught up with her.

"Can I be excused?" I asked the teacher.

"Yes but come right back." She told me because she know I won't come back.

I grabbed the hall pass and walked into the quiet halls. I saw this girl sitting on the bench texting on her phone.

"You seen Mya Johnson?" I asked her. She looked up from her phone.

"Why?" She squinted.

"She haven't been to school in forever." I exaggerated. The girl stared at me suspiciously.

"Who are you?" She frowned.

"Her friend." I said. She slightly nodded and did a fake giggle.

"Mya ain't got no friends." She raised her eyebrows. That's when I saw Mya walking down the halls looking rough. She wore a hoodie, skinny jeans, and Timbs. Her hair was cut shorter than when I saw her before. It was all nappy and shit.

"What the fuck is this?" She approached the girl and I.

"I didn't say anything. I swear." The girl said before walking off.

"What was that about?" I asked. She looked at me and looked around her.

"I got to go Christian." She whispered. She looked up at the camera over our head.

"Let's walk outside." I told her. I grabbed her hand and lead her out the front door. We sat in my car for a few minutes of silence.

"Where you going?" I finally broke the silence.

"Away from the A. See this is why I didn't want to get attached to anyone." She shook her head.

"Was the Feds chasing you the other day?" I asked. She simply nodded.

"Is it over the foster care thing?" I asked. She laughed a fake laugh.

"Foster care.. I lied about that." She continued staring out the window. She couldn't even look me in my face.

"What the fuck?! So you some type of fugitive?!" I snapped.

"Don't say that." She finally looked at me. Her eyes were red like she ain't been getting no sleep.

"Well what you want me to say?! I been hanging around a fugitive the whole time?" I frowned.

"Stoppp!" She screamed loudly. I covered my ears from the pain. She looked like a completely different person now. I don't even recognize this chick.

"Just shut up and let me talk! You always assuming stupid shit!" She snapped. I swear this side of her scared me. That's when I saw the gun tucked in her pants. My mind went back to the gun I saw in her house. Then I thought about how she always walk with this hood on her head.

"You're in disguise." I covered my mouth in shock.

"Be quiet." She shushed me. I looked at her with my eyes wide.

"Who are you, Mya?" I was prepared for anything. She looked down in her lap and fiddled with her fingers.

"I really really like you Christian." She said so sadly.

"I like you too. But I don't think you like me enough to be honest with me!" I'm hurt. This girl been lying to me the whole time.

"I like you much more than I planned." She sighed.

"Who are you?" I rubbed her hair down with my hand.

"...Laney Cole." She looked at me and I couldn't see Mya anymore. I saw a notorious criminal sitting in my passenger's seat.

All I could do was laugh. I laughed at the fact she lied to me. I laughed at the fact at how long she lied. Then I laughed at the fact that I'm attracted to Laney Cole.
