Laney POV

I woke up the next morning to a thumping noise going on outside my bedroom door.

"Who the fuck up at 5 in the fucking morning?!" I snapped.

"My bad. I was trying to close the bathroom door but it's jammed." Jory said.

I rolled my eyes at the thought of her constantly trying to force a door closed. Jory not right bright no way though.

"Thanks for waking me up. You suck for that." I rolled over and tried to go back to sleep, but I heard my door opening.

"I got to talk to you about something." She sat at the edge of my bed. I opened my eyes and looked at her.

"What?" I asked curiously. She sighed and began talking.

"Mama called me last night.."

"Tell me you didn't tell her where we were!" I closed my eyes hoping and praying that ain't what she did.

"No.."

"Good." I let a breath out I didn't know I was holding.

"But she did ask about you." She bit down on her bottom lip and quivered her eyebrows worriedly.

"For what? She the one that ran me off in the first place!" I snapped.

"I'm leaving!" I yelled in her face. Jamal tugged at my arm trying to make me leave.

"I don't care, Laney! You were a misfit here anyway. A simple minded bitch is what you are!" She snatched my shirt causing it to tare slightly.

"Bitch don't touch me!" I pushed her on the couch and Jamal grabbed me and carried me out the house.

"I hope you die in them fucking streets!" She yelled before slamming the door in our face.

"Why don't Yall just talk about it?" Jory asked. I looked at her like she was crazy.

"Ain't no talking. She never loved or cared for me like a mother should. She called me out my name and fought me like I was a woman. She wished death on me, Jory. We ain't got nothing to talk about." I lied down and turned my back to her. Maybe she would get the hint that I don't want to be bothered anymore.

"I'm going home." She said before leaving out.

What?!

I hopped out of bed and ran down the hall to her room.

"You leaving me?! But I'm just getting to know you!" I said in disbelief.

"I miss home. I wish you would come back with me." She opened her luggage and started packing.

"Stop." I snatched her clothes out and threw them back on the bed.

"It's way too early to be having family matters." Christian stood in the doorway looking like a zombie.

"Shut up, Christian!" I snapped. Jory continued to pack. I'm not gone stop here anymore. Less people to keep up with.

"Be easy sis." She hugged me and left.

I turned to Christian.

"Dry them tears." He told me. I wiped my face and walked back to my room.

*

When I woke up it was 10 am. I smelled breakfast being cooked.

I got up and walked down the stairs. I saw Christian cooking and Jamal sitting at the island.

Knock knock

We all stopped and stared at each other.

"You expecting somebody?!" I whispered. Christian shook his head. I grabbed a gun I had taped under the kitchen table.

"Who the fuck is it?!" I snapped.

"Come out of the house with your hands up, Laney." I heard a white man. It's like somebody waved a gun and Jamal and Christian, they took off running upstairs.

"Shit!" I tucked the gun in my shorts and bagged away from the door.

"We're coming in." He informed. They began bum rushing the door. I ran upstairs and collected all my money in a suitcase with my weapons. I noticed the house was surrounded.

"Mommy!" I heard Jamal. They came in my room and helped me pack quicker. We climbed out on the balcony and saw at least ten police with their guns pointed at us from below.

We dropped everything we had and held our hands up. I'm not going down, not anymore.

"So what'll we do now?" Christian asked.

I looked at him and looked down at the oozie he had in the back of his pants. He nodded as if he understood exactly what I was saying.

"On the count of three, get down." I told Jamal. He nodded.

"One." I said.

"Two.." Christian squinted his eyes from the morning sun rising.

"Three!" I yelled. In a swift motion we pulled the guns out and had a shoot out with the cops.

Bullets were flying everywhere as my automatic set fire. I saw a couple of them fall dead.

"I'm out." Jamal said throwing the gun on the ground.

"My suit case." I told him. I had killed the rest by time he got the gun. I grabbed Jamal and we all ran downstairs and out the door. We hopped in the car and burned rubber trying to leave.

Christian drove in silence and shock. His eyes were the biggest I've ever seen.

"Christian.." I said.

"Sup." He said.

"Is there something wrong with me? I'm hot as hell!" I turned facing him on the driver's side. He slammed down on breaks and covered his mouth.

"Somebody got you, ma!" Jamal said in disbelief and pointing at my stomach. I looked down and saw blood oozing from my stomach.

"Shit!" I leaned my head back on the seat!
