Inari's POV
I sat in the library, engrossed in my book, when suddenly Itadori slammed his hand on the table where I was seated. "Whoa! Yuuji, you scared me!" I exclaimed, clutching my chest in surprise.
"Hehe, my bad!" he chuckled sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head.
"Shh! Quiet down," the librarian admonished us with a pointed look. "Sorry," we both muttered in unison, sheepishly averting our gazes.
"So, what brings you here?" I asked, glancing at my pink-haired boyfriend with curiosity.
His face lit up with excitement. 'He's like a ray of sunshine,' I thought to myself, unable to suppress a smile.
"Coach Takagi challenged me to a match. Afterwards, let's go visit grandpa," Itadori suggested eagerly. "Sure.." I smiled, affectionately tousling his hair.
"Come on, hurry up!" Itadori urged, seizing my hand and pulling me towards the exit.
"Hold on, let me grab my bag first," I insisted, quickly gathering my belongings before following him out of the library and towards the playground.
"Here, hold onto this," Itadori said, handing me his bag before heading off to warm up. As he dashed off, I made my way over to his club seniors to see what was going on.
"What's happening here?" I asked, curious about the commotion.
One of the seniors explained the situation to me: Coach Takagi was eager to harness Itadori's exceptional abilities for the track team.
However, Itadori was hesitant to join, so the coach issued a challenge that would determine his membership status.
As the tension mounted, Coach Takagi tossed the ball onto the field. "Approximately 14 meters," a student announced, measuring the distance.
Itadori approached the ball uncertain. "Can I throw this however I want?" he asked, clutching the ball in his hands.
"Of course. I won't call any fouls. My apologies for selecting something that isn't your strong suit," Takagi responded, his tone apologetic.
"I can't help but feel sorry for Takagi-chan," I sighed, shaking my head at the unfolding scenario. "Eh? Why's that?" Sasaki questioned, perplexed by my statement.
"You'll understand soon enough," I replied cryptically, watching as Itadori prepared to make his throw.
As Itadori launched the ball across the field, it soared through the air like a baseball, leaving everyone in the vicinity utterly astounded.
"Approximately 30 meters," a bystander announced, prompting cheers and applause from the crowd.
On the field, Coach Takagi and Itadori squared off in a game of shot put.
Despite the coach's best efforts, Itadori effortlessly surpassed the thirty-meter mark with his throw, securing victory in the challenge.
"How did I do?" Itadori beamed as he joined us, his eyes shining with excitement. "You were amazing! As usual..." I chuckled, unable to contain my pride as I affectionately tousled his hair.
"Shall we head out?" he suggested, and I nodded in agreement. As we began to make our way out, Sasaki took a moment to address Itadori.
"You know, Itadori, you'd excel in a sports club. You don't have to feel obligated to stay in our occult club," Iguchi remarked, offering him reassurance.
"Yeah, you don't have to stick with us just because of the club," Sasaki added. Itadori paused, considering our words for a moment before responding.
"Huh? But even though you two are into spooky stuff, you wouldn't dare venture into haunted places without me, would you?" he pointed out, shouldering his bag with a playful grin.
