"Nice to meet'cha Gray."
"Likewise, Mellodi." He smiled as he let go of her hand.
A moment of unsure silence followed until Mellodi slung her guitar over her back, and pushed the jewels she earned into a small bag. "Anyway, I'm going to find a hotel for the night. Maybe I'll see you around tomorrow...?"
"Mm... Hold on." Gray instructed, and then scratched the back of his head. "I don't want this to sound weird or anything, but where do you plan on having dinner?"
''I dunno. Someplace cheap 'cause, even with the day's earnings, I'll have trouble finding a place to stay." She muttered, suddenly embarrassed by her day-to-day lifestyle.
"What kind of guy do you think l am?!" He protested and pouted his lip, shoving his hands into his pockets in an effort to appear casual. "I never said I'd make you pay for it. Besides, there's something that I want to talk to you about."
Mellodi's lips curved into a wide smile. "Well, if free food is involved, I'm in!"
Gray chuckled. "I like your attitude." He commented.
The girl couldn't help but bubble with happiness as she sung, "I'm getting a free dinner! I don't have to pay for my meal!" She joyfully followed the boy down the unfamiliar brick street, finally stopping at a casual restaurant.
The worker at the front desk seemed to know Gray as when she saw him, the smile she wore faltered uncomfortably. "Yo." He greeted in a low voice. "Table for two."
The woman at the desk narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "Are you aware that we're not supposed to serve you, Gray Fullbuster?"
He sighed as though his hopes had been crushed by the words that the worker said. "Come on..." He whined. "I brought a customer that's new in town."
The woman was unwavering in her resolve. "The last time that you were here, you and your friend nearly demolished the entire restaurant."
"It was his fault." Gray huffed.
"You were definitely a part of it."
"Come on." He whined again. "It won't happen again! Please just get us a table for two!" He pleaded.
The woman hesitated and locked eyes with Mellodi, who stood confused as she witnessed the dramatic scene. She then sighed, her brow twitching irritably as she succumbed to Gray's rather annoying begging. "Fine." She said, and the young man assumed a prideful air of victory. "But only because we don't want to turn away your friend here. If you cause any trouble what-so-ever, Gray Fullbuster, you can bet that no restaurant in Magnolia will serve you." She threatened, and the pinkette beside him blinked in surprise at the bitterness in her words.
"I promise!" He declared eagerly, still riding on adrenaline from his victory. "Besides, I'm not the one who causes trouble. Quit making me look bad in front of the new girl."
The worker rolled her eyes. "There's a booth over in the corner, here are your menus." She handed Gray two laminated folders with the name of the restaurant printed in the front and watched with suspicious eyes as they headed towards the back, where she had told them there was an empty booth.
As Mellodi slid into one side of the booth and opened her menu, she spoke with a chuckle. "Aren't you rather infamous in this town?" She hummed, waiting for the boy's reaction?
"I swear, it's not my fault!" He then paused, and his voice quieted. "Most of the time..."
"I dunno of I should believe that. After all, you are the one sitting in a restaurant without a shirt on." She raised a brow.
