A love forbidden for no reason

It was but a regular spring day when a young couple, not able to have child of their own, decided to adopt two little girls: Élise and Capucine. Those two didn't come from the same families and Élise was only a few months older than her new little sister. The older one was more on the cheerful side, while the younger sister was shy. They grew up together, knowing they were adopted. Even with opposite personalities, they didn't fight a lot.
It was only in high school that both sisters started to spend less time together, each having her own group of friends.
One evening, as Capucine was about to get in the tub, she entered the bathroom while her sister was washing herself. This was the first time after years she saw her sister naked. Capucine was flustered and embarrassed when her sister look at her, smiling.

"Huuum? So you're on that side?"

"What? What are you talking about? No!"

Élise got out of the tub, putting on her bathrobe and walked toward the door. She stopped briefly next to her sister, whispering in her ear.

"Shame."

Once alone in her bath, Capucine was trying to calm down and understand what had just happened. Her sister did not mention this for several days. After a week, Capucine noticed that her sister, that used to toy only with her own friends, was starting to play with her as well. When their parents were not at home, the younger sister gathered her courage and went to her sister's room to ask what was all that about. Hearing her question, Élise smiled creepily.

"Shame? I never said that. But... maybe you heard what you wanted?"

"What do you mean?!"

Élise started to stroke her sister's hair.

"Didn't you like that I said this to you? Didn't you spend days thinking about it, hopping the truth was what you want?"

"Explain yourself, now!"

Capucine pushed back her sister's hand. Élise was wearing a strange smile, an expression only her sister knew and could understand: she was acting, way too much for her own liking. But she kept coming closer, whispering.

"Do you really think I'm that stupid? That you can understand me, but that I would not understand you?"

Élise was about to grab her sister by her waist when this one stepped back.

"That's enough! Stop this! Fuck off!"

Her sister pushed her on the bed and sat on her. Then, she started to slowly caress Capucine's cheeks.

"This isn't you, to scream loudly like that. What do you want me to stop, my dear sister?"

Capucine did not answer and both stayed in silence until the house's door opened.

"We are home! It's pizza time!"

Élise sighed.

"Saved for this one."

With her finger, she touched her sister's lips and said.

"Don't forget to wash hands before eating."

Capucine stayed a minute lying on her sister's bed, biting her lip. When talking to their parents, Élise acted like nothing happened. Seeing her little sister, she had a creepy smile again.

"Capucine, you should try this one! It is so damn good, it's almost arousing!"

Their father laughed while the mother started to scold her.

"Élise, come on! No one else but you would say that about food!"

"I thought black chocolate could do it?"

The father laughed again.

"Well, not even considering the fact you should eat a stupidly huge amount of it to feel any effect, you would still need to eat chocolate, not pizza."

"Hum. Really... what a shame."

Élise talked, looking at her sister, with the same voice she had a week ago, in the bathroom. Capucine lied to go back to her room early, faking to feel sick. There, she wrote a note to her sister.

Élise,
I've no idea if this is one of your stupid games, and I don't want to know, but I beg you: stop it. If you, by any chance, were to be serious about this, I advise you to reject those feelings. We are sisters, and you would never want to change our relationship. It would be weird, and people would look down at us.

Capucine wanted to write more, when she noticed the paper was wet. She was crying, even if she did not want to. So she decided to stop there; and put the letter on her sister's bed.
She was panicking, feeling really bad as she waited for her sister to get back to her bedroom. When Élise opened her door, Capucine started crying again, trying to not scream. She did not hear her sister's reaction, and this one did not speak to her.
Next morning, Capucine rushed to be the first at school, avoiding her elder sister. Even if they sometimes saw each other at high school, Élise was ignoring her.
The evening, when going back home together, the two sisters did not speak. They would be alone at home, parents wanted to go watch a movie. They did share their dinner, still in silence. After this, Élise violently closed her room's door. Capucine, feeling her heart being hurt so badly, gathered the courage to go to her sister.

"I think we should talk."

Élise faked a laugh.

"Talk? Talk about what! I've nothing important to tell you."

Capucine opened the door, before even asking if she could to. She found her sister lying on the ground, holding something against her chest.

"Élise?! Are you alright?!"

"Alright?!! You dare ask me this!"

Élise stood up and starting hitting Capucine with a letter.

"A stupid game? Reject those feelings. If I was to be serious about this! Tell me! Tell me what would be weird about it!"

"We are sisters!"

"Adopted!"

Both fell on their knees, Élise leaned against her sister, crying.

"I would never want to change our relationship? Being in love with you isn't enough to justify it? If we were not adopted, we would have met each other in the street, at school. Then there, it would have been ok?! You are asking me to reject my feelings because fate decided to make us adopted by the same couple?"

FIRST ENDING:

Capucine took her sister in her arms.

"I'm so sorry. But yes, we have to reject those feelings."

Élise looked at her.

"We? Then.. you?

Capucine simply smiled.

"Then, why? Why couldn't we?"

"Because we are sisters."

She stood up and walked toward the door.

"I'm sorry. But for such a thing, I can't be the one to give you a shoulder to cry on."

She left her older sister there.

Next morning, when she went to wake her up, she saw her dead, hang up and holding a new letter.

My beloved Capucine
I apologize, but I know you will understand me. If fate chose to separate us this way, then I need to get us rid of our bond. We shall live a new life together. Until the day you join me, I will wait you, my love.

Capucine slowly went downstairs to tell her parents about the horrible new, keeping the letter's existence for herself.

SECOND ENDING:

Capucine took her sister in her arms.

"Would you be ready to fight the whole world, the society and even our own parents just for me?"

Élise looked at her.

"YES! YEAH, OF COURSE!"

Her younger sister caressed her visage before kissing her.

"Then, teach me how to fight."
