Jamie
I was walking down the hall, my mask itching like crazy. This Covid 19 life is hard.. masks, stuck at home, and for me my family moves every year.
This year, it's Waco, Texas. Where the heat was just as new as the people were. I was still sweating. We forgot to go shopping for shorts. Of course we did..
Out of my eyes, which are half covered by my stupid mask, I see people talking about how bad this dumb pandemic is. Amen to that.
They're a group of three. They seemed cool.
Some girl is really loud and confident about the pandemic sucking. She is wearing a mask that has tie-dye and has the zodiac signs on it.
Another is silently asking her to stop. She has a light pink mask. She has dark brown hair and pretty tan skin. She also has glasses.
The guy is nodding along with the loud girl and he has a teal mask. He has dirty blonde hair.
I walk up to them and say, "Uh..Hi," with my mask muffled voice.
The loud girl turns her head and says, "Courtney McAllister! Nice to meet ya!"
I say, "Oh. Okay. Wow, you're super loud."
I would've paid money to bet that she was just a REALLY loud Leo. I was into zodiac signs, and I guessed people's a lot. Anyway.. Screaming in the halls? Seriously? She wasn't the president. Or even close.
She says, "Adora! INTRODUCE YOURSELF!"
Adora says, "Yeesh, okay!..I'm Adora, I'm a Libra, and I like to draw.."
Courtney goes next, "I'm a Scorpio, and I'm 12. Turning 13 in three months, mind you!"
I say, "You're literally going to rupture my eardrums."
She doesn't seem like she cares and air punches the guy's arm. "YOU TOO!"
He says, "Courtie, Courtie, Courtie. When will you stop being demanding? Anyway, I'm Luke, and I'm a Virgo. I'm 12."
I reply, "Hi. I'm Jamie. I'm a Pisces, and ...I like to read and I'm 11."
Courtney replies, "Well I'm clearly bored. When does class start?"
I look down and notice she has two totally mismatched shoes. She didn't care. Her mask also symbolized that she was..well.. crazier as well. I question her shoes.
"Why is one of your shoes purple and the other yellow?" I say.
"Because normal colored shoes are BORING!!!" replies Courtney. She seemed to drag out the word.
Courtney
This covid crap sucks! Life is BORING without being able to talk clearly and although I normally scream I have to scream LOUDER!!
I tap my purple shoe, and then my yellow one. Adora doesn't like when I wear mismatched shoes and tap them, but boring people wear normal shoes! Luke grasps onto my hand, telling me to calm down, but I am calm! I am really loud!!
I check my watch and it's STILL lunch, it's 12:23 and lunch doesn't end till 12:30! How long does it take for these slow humans to eat?!
I see this one girl Alva, who is always, always carrying a notebook. She has refused every person who has asked to be her friend.
She's quiet. I don't understand how she can focus on being quiet and I can't. Guess it has a lot to do with my focus issues.
Luke holds my hand harder as if to say, "You're tapping uncontrollably."
And this Jamie girl, she's cool, but WAY too quiet!!! And like...everyone's nice! If you couldn't tell, I kinda love my friends. To death. Maybe. No, definitely.
Alva
I'm walking out of the lunch room which is as loud as a firework. I see the Group, which is what most people call them. I noticed that this week, there were 4 people, instead of 3 like normal.
I see the new girl with long wavy brown hair in a ponytail, and she has blue eyes like my eyes. I'd heard she was from Wisconsin. Or maybe Arizona. No, definitely Wisconsin. Nobody from Arizona wore a long sleeved shirt in Texas.
She is next to Courtney who has curly red hair like the Disney princess Merida, bright green eyes and a yellow T-Shirt and a white skirt, these compliment her yellow and purple shoes.
I'm not sure how to feel about Luke holding her hand.
Adora Todd is standing next to her, coffee colored hair and bright hazel eyes with an artistic shine that is covered with glasses.
Luke Duncan has dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes that are slightly gray at the moment that means he is concerned (I know this because he has been in my class for the past 4 years), and freckles dot his face.
My zodiac sign is Capricorn. I am 11 years old. I am a lone wolf. I don't socialize with people... not since Annabelle.
I go to class early and sit down at my desk and start writing. The words come fast and furious. My writing and books have become my best and only friends over the last 5 years. I am writing about my day in so much detail that others would see it so vividly they would get lost in it but no one ever will, not until I am 25 and I have published my first book.
A/N: SO happy to be making this book become a reality!! You have NO idea. IM SO HAPPY SQUEEEEE- after an hour thirty minutes on the cover, I deserve all the credit /j. This actually was started in the pandemic, ON a zoom call! *well technically it was a hangouts call but still* We had PLANNED to get this published, but obviously I don't plan for this to get published now.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed the YEAR AND A HALF making it! And also, Azalea helped me. Please tell her thank you too- she created Alva and Jamie. Anyway, please enjoy this chapter and all the rest coming veeeerry soon! ❤️
