Adora

I'm casually talking with them, and so are the rest. Courtney's loud personality is shining through as usual. The neighbors are literally giving her weird looks.

She doesn't care and proceeds to talk about the one time Luke got "kidnapped" by her in her Barbie car. We all proceeded to laugh a lot, especially Luke. I kinda notice that Alva keeps on staring at Luke, who's staring at Courtney. What's going on with everyone these days?

Then Courtney starts yet another crazy and dramatic story, this time it's about how she "broke into" my house. (After getting the lock code wrong a dozen times. She said it was unfair because Luke had his as her birthday for his window and balcony door.) Does this girl get any crazier? No, not really. I laugh a lot as usual and then we all carry on talking in the middle of the street, the hot Texas air beating down on us.

It's getting kind of late so we decide to invite Alva to Courtney's for dinner. We're eating spaghetti, which Courtney somehow gets all over her face. We all share a long laugh.

Jamie

At dinner I tell stories about the different places I have lived in the past few years. We're probably going to have a sleepover since it's Friday.

I'm okay with that, only problem is I have no idea how we are going to social distance while all of us are sleeping.

Literally, the only one that wouldn't be a problem to have Courtney with is Luke since they practically breathe the same air at this point.

Adora says, "Let's go back up."

Alva says, "Back? I've literally never been here."

Her laugh is muffled by her mask but her laugh sounds strange like she has never laughed, and I laugh too. We all end up laughing at her comment.

We all go up to Courtney's room where we are greeted, once again, by her many zodiac themed things.

Alva says, "Dude, how many zodiac things do you have?"

Courtney laughs and says, "I've lost count!"

Alva

Well, I've certainly made friends, and I'm hoping for a special friendship with Luke.

Courtney McAllister is even louder and even weirder than I imagined, telling crazy, exaggerated stories left and right.

Adora Todd doesn't have much to say, but when she does, it's something that should be considered. Jamie's pretty much just normal, but she's also funny. And Luke..he's..well..perfect.

We're now doing a game called "Quick Draw" where we have to guess what one person is drawing in under a minute. Luke's really good at guessing Courtney's.

I guess that comes from being friends since they were in diapers. Just like me and Annabelle.

But maybe the fact that Courtney drew a scribble and Luke immediately guessed Gordon Ramsey and got it right is a little weird.

Courtney's mom says, "Lights out, children!"

But we stay up anyway. Which is expected. Why else would it be a sleepover? I can't believe I'm actually saying that.

I have friends, and even a little crush. Before I go to sleep, I say things I'm thankful for quietly as I go into my room that I share with Adora. I'm thankful for my friends. Courtney McAllister, Luke Duncan, Adora Todd, and Jamie Hamilton. I'm thankful my life is turning around.

Luke

I have known Courtney my whole life but this feeling I have every time I see her is a whole new feeling. I feel like I would die for her. I don't know what it is. I just know life without her wouldn't be as fun (and not to mention CRAZY) as it is with her.

And as I'm on the other bed watching Courtney sleep, I remember when we were 3 and she gave me her teddy bear, when we were 5 and imagining kindergarten on the way to school telling each other everything.

And now that her life is taking a bad turn, I still remember that happy memory when she got a solo on her flute. She was so happy she started screaming. Flutists don't get solos often. And she worked so hard. I still remember the calls we had where she panicked and played the solo part over and over.

But now I can tell that she is hiding something from me. But then I smile, and head to sleep, thinking about her.

Courtney

I wake up, my stomach growling and I shout "I am starving!" loud enough to wake the dead.

Luke wakes up and says, "Geez, Courtie! Some people are trying to sleep!"

I laugh and go downstairs to be greeted by breakfast and shouting.

I literally start worshipping the food, which embarks a laugh out of Alva who was already down.

Luke comes down not long after and sees me worshipping the food, and does the same.

Adora literally starts dying of laughter as soon as she comes down. Jamie starts laughing too.

Now everyone's laughing about us worshipping the food.

I reply, "What? It's holy!" which embarks a laugh out of Luke, and me.

Adora is already almost done. I laugh and say, "See? It's holy!" And then we sanitize.

A/N: "And then we sanitize." That sounds so much like a death sentence. MHAHAH- anyway I hope you enjoy this chapteeeerrr!! 🥰
