Chapter Five: The Divorce CW
Please be forewarned, this chapter and the next few have mentions of divorce. I don't mean to cause harm to anyone reading this book and I know some people don't like to read about divorce, so if you feel threatened at any point, please by all means speed though the chapter. I love you still. ❤️❤️
AlvaI sit down and write the final chapter of my book. In my book I have recorded everything I have done for the past 5 years since I stopped making friends since Annabelle betrayed me. The last words I will ever write for the book are "along with my new friends I have a special one,one I love." Then I take my book and hide it in my closet which is a black hole.
There, love. I said it. In case you weren't aware it is Luke I'm in love with. I want to have a fresh start with these friends, I hope I can. I've been kind of shading Luke for hanging with Courtney, because it isn't Courtney's fault. Speaking of, she's calling me.
I answer. "Hello, Courtney."
She replies with "Hello."
It's shaky, like she's been crying.
"Courtney..?"
She replies, "Sorry about that, I'm just kinda distressed."
I say, "Courtney, what's going on."
She says, "My parents are officially getting divorced. The court date to confirm it is Monday."
I immediately say, "I'm not letting you go alone."
Courtney
I'm sitting in the room next to the entry room with Alva, we're both doing schoolwork. Then, Alva's phone rings, the alarm reading "Zoom call". We join on my device.
The teacher is waiting for us saying "Hello Courtney, and Alva!" We both wave.
I realize just how loud the court case is. My anger explodes. They haven't even started! I slam the window angrily, the Texas heat no longer flowing into the room.
I say, "Hold on, Alva."
I then run out to the courtroom and say, "Y'all haven't even started yet! Stop fighting with those microphones!"
Alva's still there when I get back. Good.
Luke
I heard Courtney's mom and dad and somebody else all talking on the zoom call. Also, Alva was with her. Definitely something she wasn't telling me.
The teacher asks, "Where are you two located? This looks like a waiting room, not like a bedroom or something."
Alva says, "Courts, can I tell 'em?"
She's clearly become comfortable around Courtney, which is good.
Courtney's voice in the background says, "Sure! I'm sure they probably heard me yelling."
Alva tells the teacher, "We're in the room next to the entryway at Faire Court, in Dallas."
Our teacher didn't ask why she was there, but I wanted to.
I look at Courtney who has reappeared next to Alva, and my heart starts beating faster. Something was wrong. She didn't have a cheerful look, or even any bright, colorful clothing. She even had her hair down. I NEEDED to see Courtney. Now.
I immediately get mad and then the call wraps up. Good, I'm too angry to continue anything. Now I can ask my parents if we can drive to Dallas. I don't know why she's even in Dallas, that city is miles away. I promise to do my work along the way and they take me.
Oh Courtney, I'll try to be here..

A/N: Now things take a turn! I'm so sincerely sorry if these chapters trigger you. I DON'T think they should, considering mentions are minor, but it's still a thing and I feel like I should at least warn people. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. And if you had to speed through it, I hope you enjoy the rest of the chapters. The mentions end at chapter 8 ❤️
