The Golden Party was a dud.
The fake murder and kidnap setup wasn't at all entertaining, and the most entertaining thing that happened that night was how I got to wear my beautiful new dress.
I didn't care much for the invitation into M.I.N.D. or whatever it was. That's more of my cousin and aunt's dead best friend thing.
"Crystal Martinez to the principal's office. Crystal Martinez."
"What did you do now?" Josh asked.
"I don't fucking know," I said.
I stood up and walked to the office. Because if I didn't he'd have his dogs with their stupid every other day of school schedule to hunt me down.
When I got to the office, the secretary asked: "What did you do now Crystal?"
"I don't know. Breathe the wrong way?"
She exhaled and shook her head, "Go on in."
I opened the door, "What did I do?"
Mr.Davenson smiles, "It's a pleasure to see you too."
When he gestured at the chair, I closed the door and sat down. With my arms crossed I said: "Call me in here anymore and some people may think we're having an affair."
Mr.Davenson chuckles, "Trust me, no one is thinking that."
"Why am I here? I haven't done anything." I think.
His face scrunches, "You did put a student in the hospital."
"That was self-defense. I thought he wanted to rape me."
He smiles, "I'm certain you knew it was all a game."
I shrugged, "Your words against mine."
Mr.Davenson shook his head, "Moving forward, I brought you in here to review your progress these past weeks." He put on his glasses and opened the folder. "You've been attending at least 80% of your three classes, the fourth one at 30%, and the last three at 0%."
I nodded, "Sounds about right."
He flipped to the next page, "So far, for the tests and quizzes you didn't miss, you've been getting As. But, because of your lack of attendance and the ones you do miss, your grades average to a C or below."
"Okay?"
His fingers tapped against the folder, "And other than the Golden Party incident, you haven't been in any dispute." Mr.Davenson closes the folder, "Quite the progress."
I smiled, "Thank you."
"But, how about we try a bit harder?"
I chuckled.
"I've been notified," he said. "That you've taken a particular interest in one of your peers."
I titled my head.
"Ricardo Winston?"
"What? No." I smiled.
"Typically, I'd asked students to respect their peer's boundaries and leave them alone. But, I've been requested by Ricardo's mother to take special care of him."
Angelica?
"She is particularly concerned about his lack of socialization with fellow peers his age."
That sounds about right with what I heard in Paris. "Okay?"
He smiled, and that very smile scares me, "It seems like you and Ricardo have been developing a particularly interesting relationship."
If you consider me bothering him to get him riled up a relationship.
