Paxton slouched our bags on his shoulder as we walked to his house porch. We rang the doorbell twice and the door was opened by a woman who was unmistakably his mother.

The same light brown hair was apparent and she looked younger and cuter than the photo I had seen of her back in Paxton's room.

"Hey Mom." Paxton said but it went unnoticed cause she was staring at me. She was obviously surprised to see me.
"Hey." She smiled at me, revealing cute dimples.
"Uhh...hi." I looked at anywhere but her face cause I know I sounded awkward. I didn't really know what to do or say.
"Come in guys." She ushered us in and closed the door behind her.
"Paxton, this is a very beautiful girl you've brought home darling." She beamed as she walked into the kitchen which was built to be able to be seen from the sitting room.

He chuckled. "Mom, this is Ronique, Ronique, my mom."
"Nice to finally meet you Ronique." I could tell she was making coffee. "Paxton has kept you his little secret until now." I could tell that was a joke.
Paxton rolled his eyes and I couldn't help but smile.
"Come here honey." She beckoned to me to sit across her on the kitchen counter. "You like coffee?" She asked.
I was nervous but I managed to get myself to sit.
"Yes." I answered simply and she gave me a smile.
She poured it into a cup for me.

"Now I'm a little jealous cause you would never share your afternoon coffee with me." Paxton prattled and we laughed.
He pouted like a child which was cute and made his way upstairs.
"Stop acting like a big baby... Which you are anyway." She whispered the last part and I chuckled.

I suddenly realized it was just two of us now and I felt stuck.
"I'm surprised he brought you home, Ronique." She spoke up after a little while.
My attention shifted to her.
"What?"
"He has never brought a girl home, although I know yes, he has played around with a whole lot of them but he never brings them home."
"Ohh." I just replied.
I didn't know what in particular to really think about what she said so I decided to not just overthink stuffs.
I just took my cup to my mouth and welcomed the burn of the coffee on my tongue.
"I knew he was seeing someone though." She giggled.
It was a very funny sound. I couldn't help the grin that cut across my face.

"So you live around here."
I shrugged. "Kind of." I know it was too short but I didn't know what else to say.
"Nice." She didn't seem to mind.
Done with her coffee she walked off to put it in the dishwasher.

"And she's here again." A heavy British accented voice said. I turned it was his sister. It was then I actually noticed their mom didn't really have an accent like her children. Her accent was plain American.
"Hey." She shot me her dimpled smile she clearly got from her mom.
She looked exactly like her mom although she had sandy blonde hair.
I gave her back a smile.
"She's beautiful, isn't she?" Her mother said to her.
"Maybe." She gave me a wink.

I wondered what was with them and calling me beautiful. I am nothing close to that.
I was somewhat relieved when I saw Paxton coming down the stairs. He had changed into a simple sweat pants and a simple Likans T- shirt.
His hair seemed wet from probably taking a shower.

His mom dragged me from just staring at him with the next words she said.
"You could stay for dinner Ronique." She said like it was nothing with her sweet smile.

I cringed internally. Me? Stay for dinner with this lovely family? I really couldn't. It would hunt.

"Mrs Adkins I would really love to but..." I was about to refuse but she cut me short.
"Oh! Please call me Joan." She said with a wave of her hand like it meant nothing.
"Oh okay...I was..."
Becca didn't let me finish. "Jesus...you sound like you're suffocating. Relax." She had amusement all over her face.
