I was surprised to see my mom's SUV packed outside. The trunk was open and some stuffs were loaded inside. I wondered what was up.
As I walked closer to the house porch I could hear happy chatters from inside. I went to see my parents fully dressed, my mom was the first to see me.

"Hey! Ron how was school today?"
I gave her a look, "What's all this about?"
She looked at my dad and smiled excitedly.
"I'm taking your mom on a road trip, you could join us if you're free,we're having a little picnic later." My dad announced making my mom giggle like a teenager going out on a first date with her crush.

I stared at them. It was always nice to see them like this, even though I knew they never last long. Whenever I saw them this way it always gave me hope that everything would be alright.

But nope... things usually gets so much worse and it hurts so much. I felt my nose flare in anger. I wasn't going to fall for their facade ever again.

"You shouldn't just be staring at us Ronique, you wanna come?"
I scoffed and shook my head, "You guys are so good at this."
My dad raised a brow, "At what?"
"At being fake!" I spat out.
Blood drained from my mom's face but I didn't give a damn. I just brushed past them.

"Ronique!" My mom tried to get to me but I think my dad stopped her.

I locked myself inside my room and seeked for comfort under my duvet. I fought so hard to keep my tears in but it wasn't working.
I reached for my pack of cigarettes on my bedside stool. I smoked till everything around me went numb.

                            * * *
I had thought that Nina would forgive me easily for calling her a bluff but she didn't. I had tried to talk to her in the hallway but she gave me the silent treatment.

I know I did deserve it anyway. All I did was block people out of my life and I had succeeded it with her.
I decided to try out again when school was over, perhaps apologize to her.

I was so happy when the alarm went cause I had paid no attention in the biology class.
I picked my bag quickly, stuffed my notes inside and went for Nina.

I searched around for her and finally found her in the premises. She was sitting together with Cheryl and Myron.

Damn!!...

I closed my eyes and opened them. I gave myself some inner ups and walked up to them.
"Hey Cheryl, hi Myron." I felt my voice sounded shaky.
"Hey!! See who we've got here! Sup Ronique." Cheryl's face lit up in an excited smile, her emerald eyes shone under the sun.
"It's so bad I don't see your pretty face around so often." Myron gave me a playful punch which made me smile.
Yes, we didn't really see them often cause they were in the art.

Only Nina behaved like I didn't exist.

"Yeah, you guys too... Uh can I talk to Nina for a minute?" I gave them the puppy eyes.
Cheryl was about to say something but Myron stopped her as he held her on the shoulder.
"Of cause you can. Cheryl and I were just about leaving." He turned to Nina.
"Seems like you won't have to see Jasper today."

I noticed a flush of red on his cheeks when he mentioned the name.
Nina laughed, "I can't believe I'm missing out on your red-headed hottie today."
Myron blushed.
"Come on!" Cheryl dragged his arm. "Can't wait to see him."
"No stealing." Myron prattled.
Cheryl made a face, "I'm nuh making promises."
"Cheryl!" He exclaimed.
She giggled, "What?"
They argued that way till they left. It was then just Nina and I.

I swallowed. "Hey."
She gave me a look.
"Nina I really am so sorry about yesterday, it's just..." I stopped, searching her blue eyes looking for words to say.

She scoffed and narrowed her eyes at me. "It's just I felt like I could come into your life and try to live it for you, I'm sorry for doing that Ronique and I won't do that ever again." She snarled and left.

Guess she was still angry. I wondered how she could still be angry. I slowly released my breath. People could be kind of unbelievable.

The beep of my phone in my pocket startled me. I took it out. It was a remainder that I had to be at Paxton's for the project stuff. I did keep remainders because I forget a lot.

I quickly searched for his address in my bag and I was relived it was still there.
I flagged down a cab, gave him the address and he drove me there.
The house was painted white like every other house in the street.

I hadn't even noticed my palms were sweaty till I made to ring the doorbell. I was a bit nervous.
I had almost rang the door when I heard the sound of engine. I turned it was Paxton's Jeep. I watched as he parked it in his garage.
He walked up to me with a hand of his bag flung on his shoulder. He had a smile on his face.

"Hey."
"Uh..hi." I managed to get out.
"Never thought you would be this early." He smirked.
I shrugged. "Had nothing to do."
"Oh! Right... so have you..." He motioned to the door.
I shook my head.  He nodded once and then pressed the doorbell.

The door flung open some seconds later to reveal grey eyes like Paxton's staring at me. She could be about age 14 or something and it was so clear that they were siblings except she was a blonde.
She gave a curious look. Then she smiled revealing very cute dimples.
"So who are we inviting in today?" She prattled.
Paxton rolled his eyes."Come... on..Becca." He drawled and she chuckled.
"Don't worry bro." She cocked her head at me. "She looks cool."
She smirked at me before retreating inside.
Paxton slowly turned to me. "Sorry that was my lil sis Becca...hope she didn't make you a little bit...."
I didn't let him finish because I knew he was going to make a big deal out it. "It's fine...I'm fine." I hoped the smile I gave him looked real atleast.
He gave me a little smile before walking in, I followed him in.

The blueness of the soft sofa's around a glass posh table showed just how alive the family was. I could also tell by the family photos around too.
"I will just drop my stuffs off in my room, I will be back in a minute. Hope you won't mind?" He had a brow raised.
"It's okay."
"Okay... Just make your self comfortable."
I nodded, He gave me a small smile before making his way up the stairs.

He came back dressed casually in black sweatpants and a black T-shirt making him look very different... Like in a cute kind of way.

He quietly settled next to me on the sofa and together we chose Organic Chemistry as our topic.

He was quite impressive at it. I was doing well too but I knew I would have been better.
Since we were just introducing the topic to ourselves we were done in an hour and I started packing up my books.

"So why did you leave your last school?" He asked trying to make a normal conversation.
I had actually grown to hate that question.
I just shrugged. "Wanted to."
"Really?" He asked.
I looked up at him.
He had a brow raised and... they was just something about the way he leaned on the wall with his right hand in his pocket in that black outfit. He looked hot??

Jeez...Ronique get a grip girl. I almost felt like smacking my head.
I quickly turned back to my books I was packing up. "Yes."
"No dramas? No transferring." He asked again. Seemed like he was bent on finding out.

I zipped up my bag. "When next are studying?"
His grey eyes gave me an eye scan then he smirked. "Tomorrow."
"Same place?"
"Nope...urs?"
"We could use the library then... See you tomorrow." I picked my jacket and flung my bag over my shoulder.

He gave me another very creepy eye scan, his grey eyes darker then he nodded.
I had expected him to follow me out but he didn't. I took a public bus home. I was so happy to get home and my parents weren't back yet.

I slept off that night dreaming of dark grey eyes.
