Jake left me for a while and now I'm all alone. 2 years had passed. Today is the 5th of September. I've been stuck in the hospital for how many days, months, and years. The day they found me floating on that river. It makes sense that days have ended quickly. And summer has ended too. But it still feels like those days in the Palace. The spring feeling. "Surprise!" I stopped as I saw who it was. Jake is back with.... Gumi?
"Gumi!" with excitement I stood up but I fell immediately. I can't walk.
"You're not being careful!"
"I'm sorry."
"Don't say another word." he replied and he started to guide me back to the wheelchair.
I fell in love with this Jake, but my heart doesn't flutter anymore. Maybe it was because I was with him always, but no matter what I do right now, I just can't replace Atticus in my heart.
I held Gumi and Jake started to stroll me again. Silence remained as we walked but Jake stopped near a bench. He seated down and sighs.
"It's been so long since the day you were brought to the hospital. I was there when they found you floating. Your face was so pale and it was so obvious that your lips turned blue. I didn't know what to do at that time. I thought I was gonna lose you." and he suddenly held my hand with a worried face.
"I'm fine now, aren't I?" I smiled bitterly.
"Isla, is there something wrong?" I shook my head but Gumi started lying on my lap. A reason for Jake to hug me tight. Right, I can't lie when Gumi knows what's happening.
"I knew it. Gumi is one of your weaknesses." I laughed as he said those words. It's true. Gumi always lies on my lap every time I don't feel okay. It seems like he knows I'm not well. Was he like this when he was with my Grandmother? And now he's with me.
"Grandma..." I whisphered.
"Why? Did you miss Grandma?" Jake asked. I nodded.
"I miss her too. It feels so empty without her here."
"Do you, do you still remember the novel?" I asked as soon as I remembered mentioning Grandma.
"Of course, how could I forget? It was a tragic story."
"It was..."
"Do you think that was really the ending of the novel?" my eyes suddenly widened. Did he just say those words? H-he knows?
"It felt like something was missing, like the story was cut. What do you think?"
Is this for real? He noticed it too?
"Y-you noticed it t-too..."
"Waaahhh Isla, it's been so long, since the day I heard the story."
"Seriously?"
"Yes!"
Then why didn't you know when both were inside the novel? Have you already known that Aisla was my Grandma?
"Ohh, I thought you lost the necklace." Suddenly he noticed something on my neck. Was I still wearing this?
"So you treasure me too?" he added. He smiled and this kind of smile feels different. Like that smile of Atticus.
And suddenly
"This one belongs to you."
"No, no way. This is yours."
"You are the person he treasures the most. I can't ruin the tradition of this necklace."
"But it doesn't suit me anymore. Right now..."
