Isla's Point of View
"Your Majesty!" Ivy greeted me as soon as I stepped on the palace ground.
"I'm back, Ivy!" I greeted her too with a hug.
"Oh your majesty. You must be hungry." she added and carried my things. But I was looking from afar.
"Your Majesty?"
"Oh, of course. Let's head inside." I replied and looked away.
"Aisla, aren't you hungry? Look at your food." I was surprised when the queen approached me.
"Oh sorry, Mother." I said and looked at my food.
"Uhm, I realized I have no appetite. Can I just go to my room? Enjoy your meal, Your Highness, My Queen." I said and left the dining area.
"What's wrong with your daughter?"
"She was just fine when we arrived."
[Isla's Room]
I am just lying here. Thinking of nothing. I don't even know why I am acting like this and Jake didn't even get to see me.
"Your Majesty?" Ivy entered my room and so I stood up.
"His Highness told me to give these to you. These are your favorite, right, your majesty?" Ivy offered me a plate of madeleine cookies.
Woah. These really are my favorite!
"I'm glad you liked them, your majesty. His Highness baked them before you left the palace, about two weeks ago." I was stunned by what Ivy told me. Did the King really bake this? They're delicious.
I was enjoying eating my madeleine cookies while Ivy was arranging my things I got from the trip when I saw a man standing from the garden. I quickly opened the veranda door and observed the man when all of a sudden he turned around and stared at me.
"Ivy."
"Yes, your Majesty?"
"Who is that lad standing and staring at me?" I asked Ivy and when she was to take a look, I saw her being shocked and quickly held my hand and pulled me back to my room.
"Why? Who is it?" I asked her again but she was breathing heavily.
"Get dressed, your majesty! He's here!" She hurriedly grabbed a blue dress and told me to change.
After getting dressed, she fixed my hair and put a pearl with a blue bow necklace on my neck. She pushed me away and downstairs she's telling me to walk fast.
"Why do you seem even more excited than me? Who is that lad?" I asked again but this time she answered me.
"It's your childhood friend coming back from Italy, your majesty. It's Lord Atticus!" she giggled as we were about to go out.
I'm not even familiar with that man. Is he a new character?
"Oh well, if it wasn't Aisla. Come, and greet Lord Atticus." Father called my name as soon as I got near them. I greeted Atticus and so did he.
"I must leave you two to catch up. Aisla, why don't you give Lord Atticus a tour of your garden?" Father added and left. I was left with this man while Ivy walked backward and gave me a sign to do a good job.
"Eh, it's been a while wasn't it?" I started to speak so he might not think I'm acting weird.
"Indeed it was. I also heard that you were ill from the past few days. Have you been okay, princess?"
"I'm fine now, hihi."
"So this is your garden? It's a lovely place just like the owner of it." he added. I can feel my face turning red with what he said.
"You must be uncomfortable, Princess. It's been so long since I saw you, that time when I was about to leave to study. That time when you were begging me not to go." he started to tell our story and I just listened and nodded.
"Do you still remember the words I told you before I left?" I widened my eyes. Oh shit I don't. I'm screwed. Oh Isla guess, guess. Think Isla. Think.
"You promised that when you come back, you will marry me."
"I promised I'll marry you when I come back."
Oh God. Isla you're so smart!
"You still remember then?" he added but I was surprised by the ring he took out of his pocket.
Wait, I am not expecting this. How old am I again in this novel? I just turned eighteen, became Aisla from this novel, saw Jake who is also here, and now an unfamiliar man is proposing to me?
Wahhhh the novel was too short. How come there are scenes like this?
"We're still too young, aren't we? But I hope at the right time, you'll accept my love for you Aisla." he explained and put the ring on my palm and closed it.
This. This is just a dream right? Tell me it is! Take me back to the real world! This isn't happening!
Dylan's Point of View
"They have arrived, young master." Ben explained to me but I just ignored him. I am still looking at the window, seeing Helena and her aunt get out of the vehicle, and also thinking of the right time to visit the princess.
And now I'm stuck. in front of Helena, having a meal with Father and Lady Emma.
"It's nice to see you again, Lord Dylan." Helena greeted me and so I bowed to her too.
"Why don't we eat first?" Father offered and so we started eating. Helena has changed a lot too. She is now acting modestly and is not looking me in the eye.
And in the middle of the conversation...
"So, Lord Connor. When will we be planning the wedding of these two?" Wedding? Whose wedding is this?
"Wedding? What do you mean, father?"
"Oh dear. You still haven't told Lord Dylan?"
"Tell me what, Lady Emma?"
"Son, you and Helena. We are planning for your marriage."
"What?!" I stood up but Helena forced me to sit down.
"Dylan, please calm down."
"Calm down? Aren't we too young for this? And Helena? You know this, don't you?" She lowered her face and I was madly facing her.
"Well, let me tell you this. No wedding will take place. I will not marry Lady Helena." I added.
"Son. what is this nonsense?"
"It is literally nonsense Father. Now if you'll excuse me, I still have a business to attend to." I left and headed to my mother's grave.
"Mother, you also find it nonsense, don't you? How can my father plan such things without even asking me?"
"How can I tell him that it is the princess I wanted to marry?"
*sigh*
"I knew you would be here." I heard a familiar voice and saw Helena.
"You know I've liked you ever since. But when I was away, I realized that I shouldn't force my feelings. Growing old far away from my hometown, it was hard. I don't agree with marriage either. But I can't disrespect Aunt Emma. I hope you understand." she explained and left.
I headed to the palace and
Saw the Princess with another man. It must be another lad.
She looks happy. They looked good together.
I lost the only opportunity I had to confess to the princess but maybe this is what is destined to happen.
I went back home and say the words
"Arrange the marriage" even if it's against me.
