you and ryan were childhood friends, never separated. of course you'd found people besides ryan that you could talk to but no one compared to him. but, everything felt different with him. your heartbeat had started to run instead of walk when you would be with him.
the night before you left the camp, you were hanging out with ryan. you were listening to a podcast, but not one he would regularly listen to. you listened to submitted stories by other people—the stories being about their exes.
they were ridiculously funny, ryan and you bonding even more over their ex-relationships. "man, i hope i never get into a relationship like that." you sighed, snickering at the thought of the last story. "same.. i'm pretty sure my next relationship won't be like that." ryan looked over at you with a confident glint in his eyes.
"oh really? who here do you think you would get in a successful relationship with." you looked down, attempting to calm your racing heart. still, you kept a devilish smile on your face. "well... i mean.." ryan laughed, unable to say their name.
"dude, he thinks he'd be in a successful relationship with you!" jacob shouted, point at ryan than you. "jacob, shut up!" you huffed, making him walk away in disbelief. "anyway, i think my next relationship's gonna he a successful one too." you sighed, hoping ryan would catch on.
you looked up at ryan and waited for his response. "i think i'd like my next relationship to start.. pretty soon." ryan sounded serious, putting emphasis on 'pretty'.
you finally confirmed the feelings you'd felt all these years, glad it was mutual. you paused the podcast, leaving a kiss on his cheek before taking out the earbud you'd put in.
"gotta go, hopefully we'll start it tonight!" you jogged over to kaitlyn, waving to ryan than turning back to where you needed to go. he slightly waved back—in shock at what just happened with his childhood friend, soon to be boyfriend.
