it'd only been about a year since the incident at hackett's quarry. it still haunted you, it still haunted all of the counselors as well. recently, you moved in with abi in your own little apartment. it'd been great, but on some days you'd have a constant headache or some issue preventing you from going to work. on those days, it was like a reminder of what had happened to you at hackett's quarry.

unfortunately, today had been one of those days. you woke up, unable to remember your dream. you had an intense headache that was pulsing in the back of your head. you felt dread consume your being. hasty movements toward the kitchen you hoped didn't wake your girlfriend... did wake your girlfriend. "y/n?" she called out, rubbing her eyes and forcing herself to sit up and lean against the headboard of your shared bed.

"oh.. good morning, abi!" a simple statement so you hopefully hadn't bothered her. continuing on with your remedy for your headache, you heard the bedsheets shuffle and eventually her footsteps approaching the kitchen. a slight frown appeared on abi's face as soon as she recognized your actions. "if you're not feeling alright, i could-" you cut her off, "no, it's fine. as soon as this headache's gone, we can just rest and call in sick." you explained. the warm tea brewing on the stove had soon been poured into a cup.

she watched as you sipped the warm tea, an exhale of relief soon washing over you. "a miracle.", you pointed out the magic of the tea. the day went by just fine, simply you and your girlfriend relaxing. your remedies and tea had cured your headache, something that was uncommon. abigail also had nightmares, but they weren't as severe as yours. she hoped she'd be able to cure you just as easily as you cured your headache today.

night came and the two of you were already in bed with a tub of ice cream. "okay, i'll go put this up and let's get some rest!" you yawned, letting abi get her last scoop in before allowing you to put the tub away in your shared freezer. in all honesty, fear washed over you completely. abi had always been there when you had went through the nightmares, but she wasn't sure how to completely get rid of them. thank god they were recently disappearing.

"goodnight, i love you." abigail turned over once, just to leave a kiss on your cheek before turning back around. "i love you, too." you felt the nightmare already and you hadn't even been sleeping yet. you let your eyes close on their own, consumed in your own thoughts as you gradually became even more and more tired. in the moment, you heard heavy breaths. coming from yourself as you saw flashes of your friends being injured. your name being called out from behind a door in the cabin, covered with fresh blood.

moments passed by as the sounds of the forest got louder, blood pouring down from every one of your friends injuries. "y/n, are you okay?" abi shook you, waking you from the nightmare. it left you in a sweat, damp hair and wet skin. "shit, shit." you never remembered nightmares, but that nightmare constantly came back. everytime you blinked you'd see an image from that horrid dream. "hey, i'm here for you! you're okay. everyone's okay." abi's voice wavered but she still firmly held you close.

you were quivering, eyes frantic as they searched around the room for something to stop these images from appearing. abi's words didn't reach you, until she brought you into her warm embrace. she wrapped an arm around your back and the other around the back of your head. she used force to pull your head into her nape, her warm scent overwhelming you. her soft, small hands rubbed your back in small circles. "breathe." was the only word that came out, her grip becoming even tighter as if she'd lose you.

you came back to your senses, reality of your current state. everyone had come out alive, you weren't sure why you were still being haunted by these memories. you took a deep breath in and slowly breathed out, "yeah! good job, i'm proud of you." abi praised. she repeated it a couple more times as you took in deep breaths and calmed down. soon enough, she'd been able to look at your face. abi examined you, her eyes swelling with tears. "maybe this'll be your last nightmare!" she stayed optimistic, her hands going to hold your cheeks. "thank you, i hope so." barely even able to mutter those words, you hoped for the best.

you only had one more nightmare after that and they soon barely came. you lived more in the present, connecting with the other's again and showed the counselor's you and abi's promise rings. they all admitted that they were proud of you for being able to get rid of your nightmares, but if abi wasn't there you wouldn't have been able to get through one night of them. you went home with your girlfriend, "i think it was pretty fun. especially seeing them after quite a long time." you said. slowly intertwining her fingers with yours she smiled; "yeah! we should get boba. celebration! we should send pictures to them, too!" swinging your interlocked hands back and forth.
