Knock Knock.
I look at the door.
Wasn't expecting anyone.
I sigh to myself and go back to looking outside.
The door opens and Seokjin pokes his head around the door.
"Hey Beomgyu! How are you feeling?"
Nothing.
After a couple of moments he realizes he isn't going to get an answer.
"Well, I hope you're feeling okay, because I've got someone here I want you to meet!"
Another Doctor?
Nurse?
The police?...
"Remember how I told you we were going to have a new patient on the ward?"
I say nothing, but I remember the conversation as clear as day.
"...Well, I actually brought him here to say hello to you Gyu, so you guys can get to know each other. Is it okay to bring him in?"
Still nothing.
"Okay...Well, I'm going to bring him in anyways, alright?"
Again, nothing.
"You can come in, Yeonjun-ssi."
I can't help but look towards the door as a figure fills it.
It takes a minute for it to dawn on me.
I'm not alone anymore.
The boy has metallic blue hair, and a piercing gaze.
He's wearing a white hoodie, black joggers and white Air Forces.
Even with the baggy clothes, and the weird look in his eyes that I just can't put my finger on, he is the epitome of beauty.
I don't know what I expected.
Someone covered in acne? All scarred? Clearly malnourished? Dark circles under the eyes? Resentment towards me?
Maybe I prejudiced him, but I haven't ever met anyone else similar to me, so I guess I painted the wrong picture of him in my head.
"Beomgyu, Choi Yeonjun. Yeonjun, Choi Beomgyu."
He performs a 90° bow; "It's nice to meet you Beomgyu-ssi."
I bow my head back politely, but stay silent.
"Just know, I'm not forcing you guys to be friends or anything, but I just want you to both know you have each other now."
Neither of us speaks.
"...I'll leave you two to get acquainted with each other. If you need me, I'll be in my office. Have fun!"
He swiftly leaves the room.
No doubt he'll come back a little later to see how things have gone, making some sort of excuse to explain it.
The boy called Yeonjun is standing awkwardly near the door.
I don't know what to do. Never talked to anybody else other than the staff.
"Can I...come in?"
I look at him in surprise, before giving him a very small, slow nod.
He better not get comfortable.
He walks into the room, and as he gets closer, I notice faint dark circles under his eyes.
He starts looking around the room as if searching for something before he goes over to the desk chair.
"Can I sit?"
I nod again.
I have to give him credit. He didn't just plop himself down on my bed, and he asked before he sat down.
Whoever raised him raised him well.
"So...how are you?"
He's trying to make small talk.
I just nod again.
He's not getting anything out of me.
"It's nice to meet you." He says again.
I don't react, just continue to watch him.
"I...already said that didn't I?" The pitch of his voice raises as he says this.
Again, I nod.
He looks kind of worried.
I wonder what's going through his head.
He holds my gaze, before suddenly wincing, smile faltering before coming back again.
You would of missed it if you blinked.
"Hey um I gotta go now, so I'll see you later, yeah?"
I nod.
Weird.
He suddenly cut off a conversation that he started.
Is something wrong?
He gives a small wave before hurrying off.
I wonder what happened to him...
