Prince's POV
Its been nearly three months since she left and I'm starting to wonder if she'll ever come back. I do my best to go about my day but when I'm alone in the studio or just wandering around the house I miss her.
The divorce was finalized within the first month of her being gone and the word spread quickly. Magazines had printed the news and gossip shows have began to discuss it. They wonder if I'll be a bachelor again or if I'll date Genevieve. Some of them speculate her as the reason we broke up. My publicist schedule a phone interview to allow me to clear the air. It's happening in a couple hours and I've already pre written the points I want to make. In the meantime, I've invited Andre over to distract me but he's not very good at it. All he ever does is pry.
"I know you think she's never coming back but I think she would've told you by now."
"Man, I'm trying to keep my mind off Genevieve, remember?"
"All I'm saying is you don't know what's happening up there and she probably just got held up. Besides, you're gonna end up talking about her soon anyway."
"I still don't feel good about this interview. Why should I have to explain myself?"
"Cuz, Mayte wants everyone to think you're a cheater instead of her. She's been planting stories since the beginning."
"I know but, I never wanted to bring Genevieve into this."
"Well, all they have to go off of is the way y'all perform. You could just chalk it up to great chemistry."
"Yea, you're right. I just... they're already so mean to her."
"What do they say?"
"That she's not a citizen, or her body and hair are fake, or she's some kind of spy."
"Does she know that?"
"Yea, she was upset for a while but we talked about it and I think she's cool now."
"Do what you gotta do, man. I gotta head out. Don't say anything you're gonna regret in this interview."
"I won't."
"Alright, I'll catch you later."
I decide to wait for the call in my office. A quiet environment to help me keep my thoughts together. I look over my notes and try to commit them to memory.
Don't say anything rude about Mayte. You two just weren't compatible.
Don't fall for any traps that make you discuss how you feel about Genevieve.
If all else fails talk about the movie and the album.
I keep going over these three points in my head until the phone rings.
"Yo yo! It's Johnny Mack and Keisha Nicole with 109.9 WKMZ. We've got Prince on the phone today doing an exclusive interview! How're you today, man?"
"I'm doing alright. How're you, two?"
"I'm doing great! I am so excited to be speaking with you! I've been a fan since your self-titled album. Johnny and I were talking and it truly has been rollercoaster for you hasn't it? First album at 19 and less than ten year later you're about to release album number six and you're starring in your first movie! Tell us a little about those transitions." Keisha beams through the phone.
"It was a little hard at first. I was just kid with ideas of making music that changed the world. I didn't know how I was gonna do it but I knew I would. It took getting signed to see how it all would unfold."
