Cupid's Curse- Who needs love?
"No. Nuh-uh. Never. Not going to happen." I shook my head stubbornly, watching as my luscious deep red curls fell out of my messy bun. My father sighed.
"Please Celeste. You need to try."
How many times do I have to tell him? I'm not going to fall in love.
"Celeste." My mother warned. Dammit. I forgot she could read minds. "And no cussing either. It's not polite for a lady to cuss." My older sister, Hedone or Heidi, snickered and I shot her a glare.
"Just because you don't have any 'love' responsiblities does not give you the right to make fun of your sister." My father scolded her before turning back to me. "What about him?" I turned to see the guy he was pointing at.
"Nope." My father was starting to get exasperated.
"Come on Celeste. If we don't find your soul mate it makes my life and your grandmother's life alot more difficult. Why don't I just shoot an arrow at him and you and see if it works?" I rolled my eyes. My dad could be so naive. The last time he tried that, I had a love-sick stalker after me for days.
"It says in the curse that I have to find my own love."
"We know what the curse says, Celeste. We are just trying to find a way around it. We have been searching for centuries and you still have not found your mate."
"I know," I said half-heartedly, fiddling with my silver bow and arrows. I looked around and saw a couple walking hand-in-hand. Without looking at myself, I knew that my eyes were turning black, my hair was falling straight and changing to a raven-black color. I felt my body become rigid, and my smile turn malicious. I balanced my silver bow and after taking careful aim, I shot my arrow straight between them. It broke their hands apart, and I watched satisfied as the girl started to make out with some random guy. Her boyfriend's heart broke and I couldn't help but be happy. Breaking hearts just gave me a thrill that I couldn't find anywhere else. Suddenly, a golden arrow pierced the girls heart and bounced over to her ex-boyfriend's heart. I winced and felt pain shooting through my chest as the guy's heart magically put itself back together like a puzzle. I glared at my father. Why did he always have to ruin my fun?
"Psyche, could you please take Celeste home? I'm going to make sure that she didn't break any more hearts while we weren't looking."
I smiled innocently up at my father, my hair once again it's vibrant red and my eyes once again green. I dont get why my father doesn't trust me enough to go home by myself. I mean, for Jupiter's sake, I'm 1000 years old. My mother sighed.
"Come along Celeste."
I stood up, the prophecy given to my father millions of years before I was born, ringing in my ears.
The beloved cursed shall not break from her shell until she sees the pounding of a purple heart. Till then breaking hearts is her gift. She will try to resist, but he will win her over in the end. Mortal, shall she die.
None of the curse sounded good to me except the whole breaking hearts thing. Dying mortal? Ewwww. I've been immortal since the day I was born. Falling in love? I just scoffed at the idea. I'm the Heartbreaker. I don't fall in love.

"Celeste!" I turned to see about five guys jostling each other, trying to see who would get to me first. I looked at the faces and smirked. They all had lovesick expressions on their faces. Perfect way to start a Monday morning. Break some hearts in half, and crush some spirits. Just your normal sixteen year old idea of fun.
A tall guy with curly brown hair reached me first. He flung himself on the ground and kissed my feet. Just when I was thinking that I'd seen it all, something new surprised me. I looked into his heart to see who his soul mate would be. That's another weird thing about me. I can see who people's soul mates are. And for some reason, I break soul mates hearts. I've tried before, and I still try, but it takes way to much energy. If you ask me it kind of defeats the whole purpose of breaking hearts, but maybe it's just me.
In this particular guy's heart, I saw a gorgeous girl with a mane of curly brown hair. I saw them with kids, and growing old and I watched him at his mate's funeral. I jerked my head back from my reverie, disoriented, and tried to concentrate on what the idiot in front of me was saying.
"And I will always love you." he finished. Well, we know thats a lie. Immediately, the other guys started whining like little kids about how that's what they were going to say. I glared at the guys and felt my bow appear. I slid an arrow in and aimed at the five guys in front of me. I pulled back and was about to let it fly, when something caught my eye. I turned to my right and gaped at the purple heart pounding...
