As they stepped outside into the warmth of the sunlight, Wanda was temporarily blinded by the sun. Suddenly flashes of memories and visions flew by, the explosion of the Mind stone from Loki's scepter, her vision of the Scarlet witch, and her transformation into the Scarlet Witch.
Crying out in pain, Wanda staggered and tried to regain her balance. She leaned heavily against the railing of her cabin, chest heaving, attempting to catch her breath. With every inhale, Wanda's chest seemed to throb and it felt like her heartbeat was the pound of a hammer slowly driving the nail of grief and pain further into her body.
Unbeknownst to Wanda, Scarlett winced as she too felt the pain Wanda experienced. Scarlett knew Wanda needed help; it was more than just learning about the Darkhold.
"Wanda? Wanda! I need you to breathe and try to stay calm" Scarlett attempted to pat Wanda's back to soothe her, but once again her hand ghosted through her body.
Wanda began to shake, memories flashing quicker now, Westview, Sokovia, Lagos, Wakanda. Tremors wracked her body, tears flowed from her eyes as she relived every painful moment her subconscious could find.
Scarlett knew what was going on, she had once been in Wanda's place and there hadn't been anyone for her. Scarlett knew what came next and had to stop it at all costs.
"I don't know if you can hear me right now, but I need you to trust me to help you!" Scarlett called out to her. Scarlett knew she was unable to move Wanda's physical form, but she could still push her astral form out of her body.
Scarlett focused all her concentration on Wanda's shaking form and attempted to force Wanda to the astral plane. Wanda was fighting to keep her astral self inside her body.
"Wanda, please! I'm trying to help you" Scarlett shouted, mustering up her concentration for a second try. Scarlett tried again, with no luck.
Then Wanda opened her eyes, they were glowing a vibrant, dangerous red and she turned to face Scarlett, who nearly jumped in fear. The face looking at her looked vacant and almost dead. This was Scarlett's last chance.
"I'm sorry Wanda. But this might hurt." Scarlett readied herself, then launched forward through Wanda's corporal form, tackling Wanda's astral form and dragging it out of the seemingly-vacant body.
Scarlett set Wanda down.
There was no sign of movement from Wanda.
Scarlett stayed next to her, hoping Wanda would wake up soon. But minutes passed, then hours and Wanda's form remained motionless.
