Chapter Thirty-Nine:
Dropping OutNaire Carter
New York City, New YorkSakina had just finished her meeting with the Dean of Columbia University about terminating her position at the facility, she smiled as she walked back to her car. This parking lot was crucial and had changed her life in a way she'd never expected.
Meeting Naire was something Sakina hadn't expected at all but when she saw her, she had known that she had to make her move. Slipping into her car, Sakina started the engine before pulling out of the lot, realising that this would be the last time she'd ever come here as a student.
Right now, Makena was taking care of Ebony and she would be until tomorrow afternoon. It had been two weeks since the dinner with her parents and Sakina was happy to hear that Curtis and Naire had plans to go watch the Celtics in a couple of days, they were getting along very well. In some way, her parents loved them and it was amazing to see.
She bobbed her head to 'Too Good' by Drake as she drove home, Sakina was expecting to no one to be there since Naire was at hospital with Troy, visiting Dave, he was due to come out of the coma soon. Parking in her lot, Sakina pulled the groceries she'd bought before going to the school and carried them into Naire's apartment. It was now that she realised how she was rarely home, she had no groceries or any signs of occupation at her own apartment. All she did was stay with Naire and Ebony.
Sakina shrugged it off and shut the door, then proceeded to unpack the groceries into the fridge and cabinets before heading to the shower. The pair had planned a movie date tonight, just a simple plan to go the movies then come back home, enjoying the night without a kid.
After showering, Sakina applied lotion to her body before pulling on a sundress since it was definitely on the warmer side as of late. She put on some slides then applied some light make up before feeling that she was ready. Glancing at the time, she saw that it was 8:30pm, the exact time that Naire said she'd wait outside for them to go.
They hadn't been on a date in months so excitement was all Sakina could feel as she rushed out of the apartment and down the stairs, her hair bouncing as she did so.

"I heard it's a good movie, I hope we both like it." Sakina said, holding the popcorn as they walked towards the room they were meant to be in to watch the movie.
Naire shuffled through the seats, realising that they were sitting pretty far behind. They slumped onto the seats that were right in the middle of the last row and Sakina placed the popcorn on her lap while Naire placed their drinks in the cup holders.
