5:30am

Jahmelle

The alarm on my clock buzzed and I woke up. I made myself comfortable and turned the television on in my room. There wasn't much on TV, especially at 5:30 in the morning, so I put it on the TV Guide channel and got up and started my day. I went to use the bathroom and brushed my teeth as well as took a quick shower. I got out of the bathroom around 5:50am and went back into my room and looked to see what would be coming on. The Menu automatically scrolled down and seen that it was some movies playing on HBO, I seen some other shows on channels like UPN, Ion TV, local channels like that. Wasn't much on so I turnt the TV off. I just didn't want my mind to race with the situation with Tyrone and all but he hasn't called or anything so I just left him alone, I had to give him his SPACE and all because he was still trying to process things. He didn't take things well after the doctor told him that he will be out of boxing for 6 months to a year it's like he just basically shut down after that. Sometimes he cannot handle news well. And this right here was definitely getting to him.

"I'm going to try calling him again." I said out loud to myself.

I called him and his cell phone rang and rang and he didn't answer. I got his voicemail again.

"Hey Tyrone this is Jahmelle and I'm calling you for about the 10th time in 2 weeks. Just call me when you get a chance." After I left the message I hung up. I wasn't going to let him get away that easily. Around 6:30am I got dressed and I was about to leave the house.

"Hey where you going?" I heard Damon ask. "You know, giving someone space helps them out Jahmelle." He said. "I mean look at what happened when you tried to reach out to me, I blew you off, tried to get away, I mean it didn't work and you helped me out and took me in but he may not have that same response man. I mean he had something that he loved so much taken away from him basically for the foreseeable future you know?"

"That's true, you're right about that but you know the way he's going about it isn't healthy and all, for real. I mean you just don't shut people out, especially when it's someone that cares about you, you know?"

"Yeah you're right about that. Do you want me to go with you?"

"That'd be cool, that's if you want to go with me."

"Yeah it's no problem man."

I closed up the house and then me and Damon hopped into the car. We went down the road to Tyrone's place to see if he was there. He honestly had me worried about him especially after the news that he got. When we got to his place I went to the door and knocked a few times and there was no answer. Now I'm not going to lie. I was fearing the worst when I opened that door because I had a spare key. I put the key in the door and turned the door open slowly. I saw empty beer bottles all over the living room floor and a couple of burns in the rug that was on the floor and I saw a couple of blunts on the floor and one hanging out of Tyrone's mouth.

"Damn man, that brotha is all fucked up." Damon said.

"Damon, chill out. Help me get him up." I said.

"Damn, did this nigga piss on himself?" He said as he helped me pick him up.

"Uhh, what...what's going on? Ugh, get off of me!" Tyrone said, trying to stand, to no avail.

"Chill Tyrone, relax now relax. You really messed up man, we're going to get you in the shower." I was so pissed with him, but he was feeling some type of way over losing one fight and not being able to box for a while? That's a bit much. I mean even the best of us have one off day.

"Whoa whoa whoa now I'm not going to see another nigga naked bro for real. You handle that shit, that's your man anyway." Damon said laughing. I smacked him in the back of the head.

"Damn Damon, shut up and just help me get him into the bathroom."

He helped me get Tyrone to the bathroom and then he left.

"Man I can't believe you. You don't know how pissed I am with you right now."

"So what! Who cares man I don't give a damn."

"Well you should, you're acting like a fool over one fight that you lost, but when you really think about it, it's not even the fact that you lost a fight, you're mad about what happened afterwards. You can't go into the boxing ring anymore, well at least for the foreseeable future so you need to get used to that Tyrone."

"Oh that's bull, I can get into the ring." He was stumbling around me punching the air as tears slid down on his face. At this point I think the reality was setting in for him.

"Look man there's more to life than boxing. You've always been a smart guy for as long as I can remember. That's one of the things that I love about you. This chapter in your life may be over for now but you have other things in your life that you could be doing."

"Like what man? Like what? All I know is boxing. I eat, breathe, and sleep boxing day in and day out. I have to box."

I shook my head, not even in frustration but in just feeling sorry for him.

"Look Tyrone just get in that shower and we'll talk about this later on okay? it'll be okay man, trust me."
