Chapter 32: Nice Meeting You

4:15pm

"Well what does he plan on doing?" I asked Jahmelle.

"I don't know at this point. He came over to our place the other night...."

"While you was getting your back blown out, i know." I laughed a bit. "D called me and told me about it, he didn't say where he was or anything like that." I said. "Public right now, can't say much." I told him. "But, he didn't say what he was going to do."

"I don't wanna say too much either so i'm just gonna let you know, protection, he's gonnna be okay." Jahmelle told me.

"Alright well i...." I looked over at the door of the restaurant, I saw Alex walk in. "Shit!" I whispered.

"What's wrong?"

"It's Alex. He's here." I said in somewhat of a hushed tone.

"Will you and Robb be alright?"

"Not too sure, might need to let Dante know, but let me get off the phone before he see me & get back to work." I told him as I hung up. I had a few orders to get to customers anyway.

"Hey how's it going, alright i got your fries & fish here." I told one of our customers, you also have the choice of a drink, sprite, Dr. Pibb, or Coca Cola." I told him. "The total comes to $7.30¢" I told him.

I saw Alex sitting down in the corner booth, he waved me over. I was somewhat nervous but I walked over to him.

"Hey what can i do for you sir?" I asked, trying to keep a straight face.

"Yeah i was wondering if the guy that was here is still here, i think his name is Damon?"

"Oh no, i don't know where he is, he usually comes into work though in the mornings, then we also have another person here in the afternoon and evenings, but when they aren't here i'm just here, running things myself." I told him. "It's a bit hectic but i do my best." I said, chucking, hopefully he couldn't tell the nervousness in my voice.

"Now you wouldn't be lying to me would you?" He raised an eyebrow and sat back in the booth. He took out a cigar and lit it.

"No, why would I?" I tried playing dumb.

"I don't know, why would you?" He tried to call my bluff. "Well, do you know when he'll be back?"

"Well I know he doesn't work weekends, so he could be back on Monday morning."

"Excuse me waiter." I heard one of the other customers, I turned and saw him wave over to me.

"Excuse me, I can't keep my customer waiting." I told Alex. He looked at me and then looked over at the customer with her kid and looked back at me.

"I'm not done talking to you. Take care of them then come back to me, you hear?" I slowly shook my head at him then I went over to the woman and her kid.

"Hey sir is everything okay?"

"Yes ma'mm no worries. Okay your total for your food was $13.50¢, that was a lot of food for you and them kids this afternoon."

"Yeah, they are big eaters." She said laughing.

"Well i'm glad you enjoyed the food here."

"Well thanks Vonté we appreciate the service."

"Wait how you know my name?"

"You don't remember me?" She said.

"No, I'm afraid i don't."
