I stepped out of the train, clinging onto my luggage as I struggled to carry everything off with me. The wind blew in my face as I left the train station heading towards the old house by the pier the house down I would now have to call home.
When I was kicked out of my apartment the only thing I had to my name was my grandmas house on the other side of the country. When I had finally made my way to the house all I could think about was how I hadn't been to my grandmother's house since I was 10 by now another 10 years had passed by and I had hardly any memories of the old fishing town apart from the old caves down by the beach. The caves that had shone so beautifully when the sun beamed through a small slit in the top of the rock. The caves were where I had spent most of my time during visits when I was younger and I knew that I had to go back, revisit the old worn down pile if rocks.
After I had gotten everything into the large house I went down to the beach wearing plain black swim shorts, my short dark hair now neated then when i had gotten off the train and an oversized hoodie covering my torso. When I arrived at the beach I got the most ominous feeling, it was completely empty not a single person in sight. "Hey you!" an old Fisher man yelled towards me from the other side of the road. "I wouldn't go down there if I were you. Haven't you heard about the disappearances on that beach?" He asked while crossing over towards me, I looked at him confused 'disappearances?' I thought to myself, questioning if I wanted to know more but before I could even decide, "It's unsafe to go alone lad, even to go with someone else. I wouldn't go there me self so just be careful" the fact that a man as strong as he looked, looked scared of the beach worried me. "If u may ask, who has went missing?" The man just looked at me and shook his head slightly "I didn't know 'em, so I couldn't really tell ya laddie but I know they ain't the nicest people you've met, I would still take caution if I were you" I nodded my head to the man. "Thank you Mr-?"
"Call me Samuel, Samuel McGomery. And you?" he held his hand out for me to shake "The names Fern, Fern Willow!" I said in a rather upbeat tone as I shook his hand. "I'm guessing you're related to Margret Willow" I looked at him "yea she's my grandma, did you know her?"
"Aye, I was good friends with your grandfather and I became good friends with your grandmother too. Babysitting your father when he was just a wee ben." He looked at me with a weak smile. "You've got his eyes, that's for sure." He ruffled my hair slightly "well, see you 'round lad. Be careful around these parts of town, don't know who you can trust anymore." He turned away from me and started walking again "My grandma, was she one of the people that disappeared?" He turned once more, looking me straight in the eye. No lad, like ive said the people disappearing ain't the nicest people you'll come across livin' here" with that I nodded slightly before he tipped his hat and continued his journey to what I could only assume would lead him home.
