After a whole day of searching Kaiholo walked me home, picking up Jacob on the way, and kissing my forehead gently after saying goodbye. A lot had happened that day.
I decided to try to sleep, to try and calm my mind of what had happened to old Samuel.
Bang, bang, bang. All I could hear was someone banging at the door, I looked at my phone. 'Who in their right mind would be here at 6 o'clock in the fucking morning' I asked myself. I went downstairs and opened the door to find a horribly wounded Kaiholo holding onto an exhausted looking Samuel. "Hey, Fern" He said in a weak voice before passing out, bleeding onto the floor. I immediately rang for a doctor to come to the house.
Samuel was allowed to leave pretty early, having only needed to be fed and provided with a drink due to the fact he had hardly any during the time he was missing aswell as a few wounds being treated. The police were questioning him on what had happened.
I sat on the edge of my bed, holding onto my necklace. "Please wake up" I said weakly, tearing up slightly. I kissed Kaiholo's forehead, hoping he would wake up soon. "He has some deep cuts and there's a lot of bruising all over his body, I don't know who, or what did this but he's lucky to be alive." I stood opposite the doctor, sobbing "is he going to be ok?" He nodded his head. Its not certain but he will most likely live. He's made it through the worst of it". It was so awful seeing him like this, what happened to him? How did this happen to him?
A few days went by, he still didn't wake up. I just wanted to be in his arms again, just once.
I walked through the town, bumping into Miss.Jeniss, one of Jason's teachers. "Oh! Mr. Willow, fancy seeing you here."
"Well I do live around the corner" she chuckled awkwardly. "I heard about Samuel being found. He came to your house right?" I just nodded. "So Fern, can I call you Fern?" I just nodded once more. "Ok, then you can call me Sophie." She said cheerfully. "Ok then Sophie, how come you're here? I've never seen you around here before." She smiled nervously. "Actually, I came to see you. I was coming over to see how you were coping with everything."
"I'm doing fine, Samuel's safe now." I said blankly, "and your friend? I heard there was a man who was injured quite badly." I sighed, thinking about Kaiholo. "We're waiting for him to wake up." She nodded slightly "Oh, I see" she looked at me sympathetically " I'm here if you need someone", she came closer, pulling me into an embrace I thought was just meant to comfort me. "I also wanted to tell you something, b-but I'm not sure how." I looked at her confused. Then, all of a sudden she kissed me. I pulled away as soon as I processed what was happening. "Fern?" I knew that voice... "Kaiholo? You're awake!" I felt so overjoyed and started to tear up but he just looked at me with anger? Hatred? Betrayal... he saw her kiss me. "Wait, its not what you-"
"Let me guess. 'It's not what you think?' Oh I think it is." He said before tearing up and running away.I turned to Miss,Jeniss "do you know what you've just done?" I yelled, tears rolling down my cheeks. "I-im sorry I didn't know"
"It doesn't matter if you did or didn't know you can't just kiss people out of nowhere!"
"What's going on here? Why are you yelling Fern?" I turned around to see Samuel standing there. "She kissed me without asking and Kaiholo saw and he- he thinks that-" I started to cry even more "He was the one that brought me to your house right?" I nodded "He was so badly injured when he found me but he put me before himself, when I asked him why he said 'Fern likes you. He trusts you, and if he trusts you then so do I. He wants you to be safe and I'd do anything for him' no matter how many times I told him to rest or stop to look at his wounds he refused, he wanted you to be happy. Now I know for a fact lad that anyone who would do that would give you the chance to explain. You can tell he loves you, just give him time lad. He'll come around. I could try and talk to him" I nodded my head weakly. "Where would he be lad?" I pointed to the beach. "He's probably in the caves, most likely the lagoon. But I'm not sure."
"Ok lad I'll go talk to him"
"Just- please tell him I'm sorry, and that I love him" Samuel nodded to me before heading to the beach.
