As I was driving to the school I thought about Kaiholo, like Samuel had told me it was only bad people who had went missing om the beach and Kaiholo was always so sweet and kind to me so he couldn't truly be that bad, right? I thought about introduced Jacob to him, is that safe? I mean Kaiholo still hasn't told me what he's done with the dickhead from the beach.
I picked Jacob up, apologising once more for being late, then I drove down to the beach on the way home. "Why are we here papa?" He asked, his head tilted slightly. "I-Ive decided to introduce you to someone, but you've got to stay behind me ok?" He nodded in agreement. I walked over to the ocean "Kaiholo!" I called out for him, hoping he would be near enough to hear me as Jacob clung onto my leg. "Over here" a voice said from behind me with a slight chuckle. I turned around quickly, immediately shocked by the sight before me. A 6'4 man, golden skin, long gorgeous hair and... purple eyes! "Kaiholo?" He laughed at my confusion "Hi there tiny" He said with a smirk "*dramatic gasp* how dare you!" He just laughed at me once more. "Anyways, you needed me for something, my dear" He said, bowing and kissing my hand causing me to blush. "Y-yes, there's someone I want to introduce you to." I gestured for Jacob to stop hiding behind me and as soon as he stood in Kaiholo's sight he looked quite calm "Hey little dude!" He said, crouching down only getting a shy wave in return. "I've seen you before, you come here when you aren't at school right? You come to hang out with Fern?" Jacob just nodded in return "I like seeing Papa when he's at work!" He said cheerfully, that's when Kaiholo's face changed to shock, but only for a split second before his expression fell flat. "Fern, can I talk to you? In private?"
I told Jacon to go play while Kaiholo questioned me. "How old is he?"
"He's 4" I said in reply, "and how old are you?" He raised his eyebrow slightly "I'm 20?" I said in a tone that questioned why he had asked, "16.." He said under his breath, so I couldn't hear. "Who's his mother?"
"I don't know, I don't know who either of his parents are." This makes him look at me with confusion, "but you're his dad?" I shook my head, "ohhh ok no- that's not- he's not- look I, I adopted him." Kaiholo had a look of what seemed to be relief. "Ok, good. I thought that you weren't- you know what never mind."We ended up spending the rest of the day at the beach, Jacob happily playing in the sand. Kaiholo and I were sat on the sand beside eachother as the sun started to set. I slowly leant closer until my head rested on his chest, him pulling me closer when I did allowing me to cuddle into him. Here, in this moment I felt completely safe, completely at peace. Jacob ran over to us "I want hugs tooo!" I opened my arms for him to snuggle into me. We stayed there for a long time just cuddling, basking in eachothers warmth. It was bliss.
I woke up in my bed, still cuddling with Jacob, but Kaiholo was nowhere to be seen, he must have brought us home and I must have fallen asleep. I had a few days off since Samuel's disappearance and my boss didn't mind since he was Samuel's nephew. I knew a lot of Samuel's relatives now as he had introduced me to a lot of people around town.
I decided to leave Jacob with Aron for the day as I went to search for Samuel.
It had been hours. Nothing. No clues. No difference was made. Just then I heard walking behind me. "Hey Fern" I felt someone hug me from behind, it was Kaiholo. "Hi" I said, with a melancholy tone to my voice. "What's wrong?" He asked kindly "I've been searching for hours! I have no idea where he could be! And nothing I've found could help me!" He held onto me tighter as I started to tear up. "It's ok, I'm here and I think I have something that could cheer you up. Well two things." He let go of me so I could turn around, in one hand was one of Samuel's tweed hats, "I found this further in the forest. I asked around the town, someone said he went camping and didn't come back so we have a slight clue to where he could be." He smiled at me reassuringly "I also want to give you this" He handed me a beautiful necklace made out of jade with a shell in the middle.
(Pretend rhe shell below is there instead of the big piece of jade)
"It's beautiful!" I looked at it, it was stunning. I looked up at Kaiholo when I took it. He looked nervous, I wonder why. As I put it on he explained to me how if I tried to blow on the shell it will alert him and he will find me. "But I thought that was a myth. These things don't make sound when you blow on them, especially small ones like this." He just smirked "it's a myth huh? I wonder what else around here is a myth. Oh, right! I am sweetheart" He said in a smug tone, I just rolled my eyes. Suddenly he pulled me in closer to him "what are you doing?" I asked, giggling slightly. "C-can I kiss you?" He held my face with one hand the other wrapped around my face. I nodded, allowing him to pull me closer until our lips met. We stayed in the kiss longer than I had expected but I couldn't complain. He pulled out of the kiss, placing his forehead against mine, giving me the most loving look I'd ever seen. "We should look for Samuel" I said before he nodded in agreement.
