----------------------------------------------{Joeys Pov}
Our plane landed at 11:13 pm. That night. I had less than 2 hours until I'd be 18, since I was born at 1 am on my birthday.
My hands squeezed the arm rests as our plane came to a rough landing, and then smoothing itself out. I took a sigh of relief and shook Shane awake.
Shane: Wait, has the plane landed?
I nodded and laughed. His sleepy eyes were so cute and he looked manly, dressed in an old sports shirt (although he didn't watch sports) and jeans, with his vans. I took off his beanie and rubbed my hand over his shaved head, messing with him.
Shane: Leave me alone, you turd.
He kissed me on the cheek and pulled his beanie back on. My hair was short at the moment but it wasn't as short as Shane's, because I had been off my chemo therapy for a while. I wish I could stay off it.
Shane grabbed our luggage from above us when the plane officially landed, and we walked out of the plane into the crowded New York airport. The people were so busy looking, and it was passed 11 o'clock.
Shane: Happy Birthday.
Shane kissed me hard and dropped our luggage to grab my face in his hands. My hands flew up and I caught a glimpse of the huge clock hanging off the wall, that read 12: 35 pm. I had forgotten that the time had changed again because we were in New York. My eyes shut closed and I wrapped my arms around his neck to kiss him back lazily, as his lips pecked at mine again and let me go.
I looked at him and rolled my tongue over my lips, a little in shock from all these things happening so quickly. I felt with my tongue where I knew the unfading bruise on my lip was- it was red and almost looked as if lip stick had been dabbed only there on the left side. Shane leaned to the right when he kissed, so the bruise was on my left.
Shane: We have a cab to catch, Kangaroo.
I smiled at the old nickname and nodded, following Shane who had picked up our luggage again.
We got to a cab barely on time and had them drive us to out hotel, which was a mile away from Times Square.
It was 12:45 am when I looked at my phone, after Shane settled the luggage into the trunk and hopped in beside me and the cab got back on the highway.
Joey: In fifteen minutes, I'll be officially 18 years old.
I told Shane, as if he didn't know, and as to prove my point, I rubbed the inside of his thigh. He bit his lip and looked up at me through his long eyelashes and took the hand that was grazing his thigh into his bigger hand and held it tight. My hand.
Shane: I know. You grew up so fast.
I smiled because Shane sounded like he was an older family friend or something, and he was such a cheese ball with all of his sentimental stuff. It's what always made him so adorable and love able.
Shane: In thirteen minutes, we made it.
I looked at him and raised an eyebrow. He continued,
Shane: When we were younger you said when we became 18 we would live together and i told you if we made it to 18. We did. In twelve minutes now, we would've finally made it.
We arrived at the hotel in ten minutes. Two minutes until I became 18. Shane hurried to pay the man and get the luggage out of the car, and I tried to run beside him as much as I could into the hotel lobby, but found myself catching my breath hard when we made it to the front desk and got the keys for our room.
