{Shane's Pov}I walked to school alone, again. Joeys been gone all week, and I'm starting to get worried. It's been a year since we started dating; and we need to be together for that.
I sighed and made my way into the courtyard. Same old, same old.
People glanced at me and shot me the finger, same old same old.
I went to class and sat down, ignoring the snickering behind me that I couldn't give a shit about, because I have Joey and that's all that matters.
His parents know about us, and they are okay with it. Which is weird because most people aren't. But maybe they knew we loved each other all along.
I finally got out of school, and I ran down the old way past the forest, past the treehouse, and to Joeys house. I knocked on the door, and no one answered.
I dialed Joeys number over and over, but there was no answer.
I decided I'd go back to my house, get dressed up for the occasion, get him flowers, and see if he was here by then.
So I ran the thirty minutes back home. When I got home, I got into the shower and set my phone on the counter.
Right as I was washing shampoo through my hair, my phone began to ring and buzz.
My eyes shot open at it, and shampoo filled my eyes.
Shane: Aw, Fuck!
I cursed and ran out of the shower, grabbing and answering my phone right before it ended.
Shane: Joey.
I stated, relieve he was calling back.
Joey: Hey Shane. You called?
Joeys voice seemed cracked as if he were crying. I wasn't gonna ask until we were together though.
Shane: Happy one year anniversary. I love you with all my soul and heart and everything.
Joeys voice cracked and crumpled into the phone.
Joey: I love you so much too!
He sobbed into the phone now. I heard Joeys parents and the background telling him it'd be okay and not to cry.
Shane: Babe, why are you so sad?
I asked him calmly. He wheezed into the phone and whimpered.
Joey: I'll tell you soon- how fast can you get to my place? An hour?
Joey asked trying to make his voice still
Shane: Yeah! Yeah! I'll be over there soon.
Joey: Great. I love you.
Shane: I love you too.
He hung up and I quickly washed the shampoo from my hair. I blow-dried it, and got into my favorite button up and newest jeans. I looked presentable.
Shane: Mom, can it borrow your car? It's important.
I had recently gotten my drivers license, and I need to get flowers for Joey.
Theresa: Well, okay then. Have it back by tomorrow.
I nodded, grabbed the keys of the hook and ran out the door.
{Joeys Pov}
Shane would be here in fifteen minutes. I ran up the stairs to the bathroom and tried to pull myself together. I looked terrible. My life was falling apart in front of me and all I could do was cry and curse the damn disease infesting me, sending me to my death.
