Shane: Age 8
---------------------------------------------{Joeys Pov}
"Joey, we are gonna be watching Shane for a bit again."
Mother told me, standing in the door frame. I sat on my bed staring at the T.V to my right, which had some anime cartoon on. I can't pronounce the name but I enjoy it. Mother says it'll kill my brain cells, and father usually adds a 'Whatever cells are left' into it. But I don't care very much anymore.
"How long?"
I asked back. The longest Shane ever stayed over was a week, which was a long one. I don't mind Shane, besides he's a bit older than me and thinks he has all this power. His opinion in loud and always demands to be heard, and he has this feel to him that is just, well, strong.
"Maybe a little longer than a month."
Mother said as she crossed her arms in front of her chest. Her dress was long and silky and she looked beautiful. Her curly hair was pinned in a bun the way father likes, even though he's always working. But when he's not he's smooching over her. My father loves my mother, and my mother loves him back. So the house is pretty settled.
"Why that long?"
"Joseph, you shouldn't..."
"Ask to many questions, I know. "
She smiled and walked out the door, closing it. I got dressed in nice pants and a button up. I combed my hair and slid on my nice shoes.
Honestly, I cant tell you why I'm getting so dressed up. I'll see him every day of the month for over a month. And it's just Shane. My mothers 'less fortunate' friend's son, and he's nothing to impress.
I'm just excited for company, I haven't seen another face since the end of school two weeks ago, besides my parents of course.
When I heard the loud door bell ring, I ran down the large spiral staircase to the front door by my mothers side. When she opened the door, Shane and Theresa stood there. Theresa smiling and Shane with one hand on his suitcase and one in his jacket pocket, which went over his plain blue shirt. He wore plain black jeans and tennis shoes.
Mother and Theresa talked a little bit in the living room, and I helped Shane with his bags up to my room.
"Thanks for having me."
Was the first thing Shane said before just throwing himself onto my bed.
"Make yourself at home, I suppose."
I unzipped his bags and started to put his clothes in the empty bottom drawer of my large dresser that I had cleaned out for him.
"Hey, don't you know how to keep your nose in your own business?"
Shane exclaimed and slapped my hand away from his bag.
"Don't you know how not to be rude? Or is that one of many manners your mother forgot to teach you?"
"Manners blah blah blah mother blah blah blah,"
Shane repeated, mocking me.
"Who cares Graceffa? The only thing my mom didn't teach me was how to be like you, and I thank Jesus for that."
He finished, and zipped up his bag.
"You always act like you're hiding something."
I crossed my arms in front of my chest and sat down on the floor.
