Seth POV
My heart sunk. My head spun. This can't be happening. It seemed like months ago Alex was young, and I love with me.
"No," I barely got out.
I stared into her big beautiful brown eyes.
"Seth, I'm standing on the line between giving up and seeing how much I can take," the light in her eyes no longer shone.
"I'll come home, I'll forgive Embry, I won't ever leave again. Just give me another chance," I begged.
"How much more do you expect me to do? You want me to drop everything that's happened, like it was nothing." She sighed, "It wasn't nothing,"
A single tear fell down her red cheek. She wiped it, flipping her hair behind her neck.
"I'm not saying it was nothing. I'm saying, well I'm not sure what I'm saying. I guess I'm saying I should've been there. I'm freaking sorry I wasn't there. I'm so sorry for making you do this yourself, I'm so fucking sorry this is happening. But I can't take back what I did. Its the past and the only thing we can do is forgive and forget."
"Forgive and forget? Seth I raised our baby myself! I haven't gotten a full night of sleep in what seems like forever." she cried.
"I thought Embry helped," I said.
"Not at nights. Emrby has to cover your shift because not only did you leave me, you left your pack."
Everything she said was true. I didn't blame her for not wanting to forgive me. Raising a child is hard, she's on her own.
"I don't want to loose you," I whispered loud enough for her to hear.
She stayed quiet.
"You should've thought of that before you left," She turned around.
Walking to Embry she took the sleeping child in her arms. She was just as beautiful as her mom. Her innocent face made my heart melt.
She strapped her in the carseat. I walked over, but was stopped by Embry.
"Dude let me go," I said ripping his hand off my shoulder.
Embry protected Brinleys door, growling as I walked toward him.
I stopped by Alex, trying not to look at him in the eye.
"Can I come home?" I asked gently.
"Do whatever you want," she said walking around me.
She got in the car and Embry sat next to Brinley in the backseat.
I got in the passenger side. We drove in silence.
We got out, Embry holding Brinley gently. He stared daggers at me as he walked past me.
The house wasn't too much different. A few new toys scattered the living room and hallways. A coffee cup sitting on the side table by the couch.
I sat on the couch, Alex sitting on the one across the room.
I couldn't think of ways to make her happy. Sure she could slap on a smile, but that doesn't change the fact that she was upset.
"Are you okay?" I asked her.
Her face scrunched up in thought.
"Don't worry about me," she said.
Cries suddenly filled the house. Embrys soft cooes followed.
"See mommy is right here," He showed up in the room.
Brinley was now wearing footies, her cheeks moist from crying. She reached for Alex, and Alex took her in her motherly arms.
"What's wrong baby," Alex asked Brinley.
"My phone was sitting next to her on the changing table and it went off cuz I'm late. It woke her up and she got ticked," Embry said.
"Oh okay, thanks for changing her," Alex said rocking the baby in her arms, "You can head out if you need to,"
"Nah, I'll skip for a couple days. Double shifts are flexible because of how tiring they are," He glared at me.
Brinley closed her eyes again. Resting her sweet head in Alex's shoulder as Alex rubbed circles softly in her little back.
I wished I could be in Alex's arms. What would've happened if I told Alex id be gone because I was angry. Would she have acted differently when i returned?
"I should probably talk to Sam," I said getting up.
"Leaving again," Embry mumbled.
Alex wacked the side of his head.
"Stop," She simple said.
Embry looked almost scared, she was definitely a mother.
"Maybe you could stay here and help for once," Embry added, smirking.
"Do you need my help?" I asked Alex.
"Don't ask her," Embry snapped, "Do you even KNOW her?"
The anger bubbled, but I tried to keep it down.
"Embry, enough," she said, "Take her to bed and go to bed yourself," she demanded.
He rolled his eyes and took the baby from her, leaving the room.
"He's right," I said when he left.
"Right about what?" she said looking at me from the corner of her eye.
"I should stay here and help,"
She mumbled an Okay.
She left the room, to the bedroom and I followed.
She slammed the door in my face. Guess I was sleeping on the couch.
"Can I have my pillow?" I asked the door.
She swung the door open and shoved the pillow in my face, before closing it again.
"Thanks," I said.
No answer.
"Goodnight," I said to the door again, "I love you,"
Again.
No answer.
