Seth POV
Brinley strode out of her room, in her ruffly swimming suit. Today was suppose to be very very warm and sunny, and Brin wanted to go out to the river.
She jumped into Embrys arms as he called her name. Her smile reaching both ears, and giggling as he ticked her belly.
Alex walked out soon after, sighing as she pulled the bag further up her arm.
"Brin, we need to get some sunscreen on you," she said looking around for it.
I grabbed the bag from her arm, holding it myself as she looked at me thankfully. Grabbing the sunscreen and the child from Embrys arms, she placed her on the counter.
"Mommy?" Brins sweet voice asked.
"Yeah honey," Alex rubbed sun block on the child arms softly.
"Can you brush my hair?" Brin pulled at the hair tie, yanking it out to reveal a maine.
"Sure hold on baby," Alex quickened her pace.
I set the bag down, Embry looked at me as I passed him.
"I can get the sunscreen, you can brush," I offered.
She gave me the bottle, smiling at my offer. It was clear she was thankful for me when I did offer.
Brin smiled at me as I dabbed a drop on her nose. Her mom gently brushed the tangles out of Brinleys long hair.
Finishing up the sunscreen, I dabbed the remains that were left on my hands on Alex's soft cheeks. She looked at me and smiled.
Ever since Brinley started talking, moments with just us rarely happened.
"Mommy!" Brinley screamed from the door.
She stopped looking at my face and turned to the child, "What?"
"I can't find my shoes," Brinley blushed, rubbing her cheek on her shoulder.
"Brin, they're right here," Embry interrupted.
Brinley muttered an 'oh' and Embry poked her belly making her giggle.
"Ready?" Alex asked me.
"Yep," I answered taking the bag before she could, "Lets go,"
Embry held Brins hand, and Alex held mine. Walking in mostly silence apart from Brinleys constant questions.
Although we said we could forgive and forget what happened, there was still moments like these when it didn't feel right.
"Seth," Alex caught my attention, "Brinley asked me why you were never here before."
"Oh," my breath caught, "I regret it to much Alex, she's so wonderful. I missed out on so much,"
She shrugged a little, pulling the blanket from the bag I was holding. She spread it out on the grass by the river we had found the other day.
Brinley ran off, picking flowers and holding them all in her chubby hand.
"Seth, Brinley asked me if you're her daddy," Embry watched her intently but sat next to Alex.
"She's just full of questions," I said, "What did you tell her Alex?"
"I said you were trying to keep up safe, and she didn't push it after that,"
She looked down at her lap. Something was bothering her.
"Embry, what did you tell her?" I decided to ask when Embry wasn't around.
"I said yeah he is, and she asked if she can call you that," he looked at me for a second, "and I said she can call you whatever she wants,"
Our conversation was cut off by Brinley, bringing the huge handful of flowers to Alex.
"Here mommy," she smiled proudly, "You looked sad so I brought you flowers."
Alex's mood changed immediately. Now her face was bright like the sun and she pulled the tall toddler into her arms.
"Thank you baby," Alex kissed her cheeks and forehead.
They were almost like clones, Brinley had most of Alex's features and my chubby cheeks. She was adorable, and so was my imprint.
"I'm not a baby mom," Brin tried to hide her little grin.
"You'll always be my baby, Brinley," Alex smiled down at her.
"Can I tell you a secret mommy?" she asked.
Alex nodded and Brinley whispered into her ear. Brins hair flew with the wind with Alexs, they were the same shade of brown.
"You have to ask him yourself," Alex chuckled.
She hid in Alex's shoulder shyly.
"Seth, Brinley wants to ask you a question," Alex gently pulled Brin away.
Her face was red, and my face erupted with a smile.
"Will you go swim with me?" she asked looking at the pattern in the blanket.
"Of course," I got up.
I kneeled down next to her and offered to pick her up. She giggled nervously, and jumped into my arms.
I made my way to the water, dipping her feet in as she squealed.
"It's cold!" her smiled never faltered.
But after a few minutes, she was running and splashing me. She ran into my arms and I threw her up, catching her as she screeched.
"Again!" she said looking at me when I caught her.
I threw her up again and again, until Alex called us in for lunch.
The once thick air had cleared up, as we ate the delicious sandwiches and snacks Alex brought.
Alex pulled the flowers Brinley gave her, and they were woven into a circle the size of Brins small head. She placed it on her head and Brinley smiled up at her.
"I'm the flower princess!" she said.
"You look so pretty Brin," Embry smiled at her.
"Embry you're my flower prince," she got excited, "And mommy you're the queen. Daddy?" she questioned making me look up.
It was the first time she had ever called me that and it filled me with this delight.
"Yeah Brin?" I asked back.
"Can you be the flower king?"
"Sure, if you want me too." I smiled.
Alex laughed, making me chuckle with her.
Brinley kept by the flowers, showing us different ones she found. Then it was time to go home.
"Ready, flower king?" Alex asked me laughing.
"I'm ready, my flower queen," I answered.
"I'm ready too!" Brinley screeched from Embrys arms in front of us.
We laughed once again. And then we headed back. We headed back for a night of more laughter as our relationship slowly healed.
