Alex POVThey days go by too fast, and it seems I get too caught up in what's going to happen, or what's happened already. Brinley keeps growing, improving everyday.
I didn't know what to do about Seth, I wanted her to have her father, and there is no doubt I still love him. But he hurt me, he ran away, left me to do a lot of her childhood. He's been around lately, it's been about it month, Brinley is aging so fast.
I put her in her little white dress, and little one piece swimming suit. My white bikini and white cover up matched hers, which she was excited about. Her smile was as bright as her beautiful brown eyes.
I put a little hair tie in her curls that we cut a week ago because she got scissors and cut off a chunk.
It's so hard to be mad, she didn't mean it. As she ages, she learns from her mistakes. She learned not to cut her hair, because it makes mommy mad, and she has to cut the rest of it.
"Hey," Embry said.
He took the baby from my arms, swinging her around. She giggled, her precious laugh could make everyone smile.
She was beautiful, and I couldn't believe I created her.
I walked outside, Embry following with Brinley.
I watched carefully, hoping to see my sandy colored wolf suddenly appear. Sitting on the steps, Embry and Brinley ran around the yard.
"She needs some toys for outside," A voice said making me jump.
"Jesus," I said, "You scared me Seth,"
He sat next to me, giving me a slight smile, "Sorry,"
He watched the kids, smiling to himself.
"I don't mind it anymore," He said.
"What?" I encouraged.
"That he imprinted on her," He said nodding to them, "I've never seen him like this, it's so different. He's gentle, and caring. And happy,"
"Everything happens for a reason," I said.
He nodded, staring at them still, "It's like Embry is our son,"
"Yeah," I agreed with a laugh, "But I'm grateful for him, I don't think anyone would think he acts like this around us. He's a whole new man, Brin is lucky," I laughed.
He smiled with me, not exactly laughing.
"She's growing fast," He simply said.
"I know," I said, "It makes me wish I would've appreciated the times she couldn't walk,"
He laughed at that one, "She looks like she's one, should we wait to celebrate her first birthday?"
That was a good question.
"I was thinking of sending her to see Carlisle for a check up, maybe see what he thinks we should do," I said.
"If we wait until she's actually one, she could look a lot older,"
"Yeah," I agreed.
"That scares me," He admitted.
"Why?"
"She kept shifting in your stomach, she's going to be a shifter. My prayers every nights consist of me begging god she won't be another Leah,"
"Leah is sour because she lost her father, and she believes it's her fault. She also lost her boyfriend who she loved, to her cousin. And she has to see them repeatedly. Give Leah a break, she has been through so much. Brinley hopefully won't lose her father, and she already found her imprint,"
He nodded agreeing with me.
Times like this were the best. When we could talk without fighting. Our relationship was healing, one little place at a time.
