Chapter 3: Breaking Point

Alex POV

"Seth?" I called out into darkness.

I got up and walked I the wall quietly.

There was another bang in the hallway, making me jump in place.

"Shut up Seth!" I finally heard Embry yell.

I listened to to their conversation, curious.

"Embry I'm not telling you the gender," seth tried to whisper yell.

"Seth you buzz kill," there was another slam.

I jumped, and the baby moved drastically.

I grabbed my stomach, running my hands in circles and gently 'shh'-ing the startled baby.

Pain ripped through my body, and my stomach changed shape. the baby shifted again.

I backed up to the bed, sitting cringing as I called for someone.

Embry surprisingly showed up first,

"What's wrong? What happened? Is the baby okay?" He panicked.

Seth showed in the door in time for my back to completely give out. I was send backwards, my spine twisting uncomfortably.

I groaned in pain, and seth grabbed my face. his face was scared as he picked me up gently, and put me in Embrys truck.

I cried in pain until we arrived at the Cullen's.

While going up the driveway, we hit a bump, making my head slam against the door and I passed out.

Seth POV

I rushed her limp body inside as salty tears started to drain from my eyes.

"Carlisle isn't here right now, but he is on his way, I can take her," Edward met me at the door.

"I'm not leaving her," I said and I pushed past him.

I laid my angel on the table and tried to straighten her back out.

Edward put an IV in her arm and checked on the baby.

The baby phased, and ripped its placenta open.

Edward jumped as I looked away.

"We have to get the baby out," he suddenly said, getting towels and utensils.

"What?" I yelled, "it's too early! The baby isn't ready!"

My heart thudded in my chest and everything seemed like slow motion.

"When the baby phased it tore the umbilical cord in half," he tried to explain, "the baby is suffocating,"

"Is the baby going to make it?" I asked panicked.

"We will have to get an incubator,"

"What about Alex? Is she okay? Her spine!"

"We have to wait until she wakes up,"

He sliced Alex's stomach open, and before I could take another breath, a cry broke through the air.

I smiled at the baby in the vampires arms, he let me cut the cord. Rosalie took the baby and cleaned it, wrapping it in the tiny soft blanket.

The baby cried even as it was placed in my arms.

I looked at Alex, who was being stitched up still unconscious. she had no idea our baby was here, in the world.

Carlisle arrived right as Edward finished stitching.

"Edward," he nodded at his son.

"The baby tore the placenta when it phased, and split the umbilical cord in half." he explained

Carlisle took the baby from my arms and measured it, weighed it.

He concluded that the baby was surprisingly fully grown. as grown as it was going to be anyways.

The baby is very small, but healthy.

And now I wait for my love to wake up, so her and I can announce that we had a baby.............................
