"Officers, thank you," Nicole said. "It won't happy again, I can promise you that much"
"Alright, have a great night Mrs. Lee."
"Absolutely. Sorry again for the trouble." Nicole says as the cops walk out the door. "Have a good night, officers."
Finally, the door was shut and I knew hell was about to break loose in this house. Nicole turned around and threw her arms up. "How could you guys be so irresponsible."
"Mom, it wasn't a big deal," Akio said stepping forward.
"Not a big deal?" Nicole said. "I would say getting picked up by the cops is a pretty 'big deal' Akio."
Akio sniffs and scoffs. "We- we're you guys smoking tonight?" He laughs.
I looked up at Akio in shock. There's no way Nicole and Milan would ever smoke. But as soon as I thought that I got a whiff of what smelled like pot.
Oh. My. God.
"What?" Nicole says and briefly pauses. "Keep your voice down, Milan is sleeping in the living room."
"Wh- wh- what? I wasn't even yelling."
"Just know, Nicole, I didn't drink tonight," Keoni said.
Miyu and I stood awkwardly against the wall as we all got our heads taken off one by one. "You're the oldest. What the hell has gotten into you?" Nicole asks Nico as he lowers his head.
"And girls.."
Oh brother.
"When we said you could go out to the bonfire, we meant it when we said to be safe and no drinking," Nicole says firmly.
We both lowered our heads and apologized.
"Sorry, mom"
"Sorry, Nicole," I say.
"I hope you realized this night could've gone a lot different if your family wasn't your family," Nicole said.
"We're sorry, Nicole," Nico said.
"Just- just go to bed, guys." She said and we all started making our separate ways to our rooms.
As I was walking upstairs and down the hall to my room, Keoni stopped me. "Hey" I turned around to see Keoni.
I couldn't help but smile at the sight of him.
"Hey," I say. "Tonight was... amazing."
"A shitshow," He said. "You know you're going to have a black eye tomorrow, right?"
I touched my bruise and felt it swell up.
"Come on, let's clean that up." Keoni takes my hands and takes me to the bathroom. He places his hands on my waist and lifts me onto the bathroom counter.
