I was sitting at the snack bar waiting for Akio to come with my lunch.

"Oh... That's all breast meat with the special pesto aioli sauce, right?" I ask as Akio come and set my lunch in front of me.

"I'm not your personal chef, all right? But yes. I walked all the way to the kitchen to get it." He said taking a fry and popping it in his mouth.

"Mmm. Mmm. You know it's all love." I fist bump him.

"Mm-hmm." He said. "Enjoy this, man."

"Akio. Can we please get two Slushies?" Allison said from behind me.

"Mm. Yeah, yeah, coming up, ladies."

"Thank you."

"Um, that was the most fun waltz rehearsal, like, in the history of waltz rehearsals." Her friend said.

"Yeah. You came just in time. Your girl Leilani is a disaster in heels." Allison laughed.

"You know what? Lani's actually a good dancer. The waltz is just dumb." I snapped at her.

I already couldn't stand her but hearing her talk bad about Lani was just triggering.

"Here you go, ladies." Akio said giving them their slushies.

"Perfect, thank you." Allison said.

"Always. There you go." Akio said as he watched them leaving.

"What was that about? What's their deal?" Akio asked.

"Well, uh, Allie wants a boyfriend and, uh, her friend bit me once." I say making Akio laugh.

"Yeah, it's a long story." I chuckle. "You want to get out of here?" I ask.

"I can't."

"You're no fun." I say.

"Not-not all of us have a trust fund, Oni, all right? Some of us need to work."

"Bullshit. If Soma called you right now, your ass would be out the door." I argue.

"Yeah." He laughs. "I mean, it's Soma."

"Akio." One of Akio's co-worker calls for him. "Someone important must like you, because you've been promoted to the card room."
