"Look at us." My mom said.

We were all standing outside by the entrance as the other walked around us to get inside.

"It's perfect." My mom said.

"Mom, you're not gonna cry, are you?" I asked.

"What, and ruin my makeup? No way." She laughs. "It's just... Everything's gonna be different next year. Nico's going off to college. Yep. It may be the last summer we're all together."

Wait, what does she mean by that?

"Just don't forget I get a dance from you tonight." I said taking her hand and dancing with her. I dipped her and she stumbled when I brought her back up.

"Ooh. Oh." She said holding onto my shoulders.

"Oh, Mom, you okay?" I asked worryingly.

"Yeah, no, it's just, uh... it's been way too long since I danced. I, um, must be out of practice." She said.

"Come on, um, we should go inside." Nico said.

"Yeah." My mom exhales.

"Come on, Mom." Akio said before taking Nicole's hand and taking her inside.

"Thank you."

Something seemed off about mom. It has been every since that night of the party. She's been sleeping more, smoking more pot, and just acting less and less like her old self. And I know I'm not the only who has noticed it either.

I decided to brush it off my shoulder for now because this is Leilani's big night and I don't want to ruin it for her.

I let out a deep sigh and went inside and went to the Blue room where all the guys were to get dressed.

"Hey, you guys ready for the escort dance?" Nico said catching Akio and I before we went inside to get changed.

"Dude, I-I actually still can't believe Lani roped me into this." I said.

"Oh, come on, dude. The girls are gonna love it." Nico said. "Kind of wish we were all doing it together, you know?"

"Uh, you wish you were doing a dance routine?" Akio said teasing Nico.

"No, no. No." He laughed. "I didn't mean that literally. I just, you know, we haven't hung out much this summer, so..."

"Yeah, you've been pretty M.I.A." Akio said.

"Yeah. Yeah, I know. I know. That's on, that's on me. But I was thinking about it. We have, like, a week or so left of summer. What if we all went on an overnight fishing trip?" Nico suggested.

"Dude, yeah, I'm in." I said.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah. Yeah, me, too." Akio said.
