"Good morning, Lani." Milan said causing me to jerk out of my sleep and sit up.
"Oh, my god. Am I late?" I say half awake.
I was so tired because of last night. Keoni and I got home a little later than anticipated....yeah.
Milan chuckles. "No, you're fine. Are you ready for you big day?" She said handing me a cup of coffee.
I take a sip and sigh. "Not at all."
"Oh, yes, you are." Milan said with a smile.
"What if I trip?"
"You won't. Just hold on to Oni's arm. He won't let you fall." She laughs softly.
"That's true." I say, playing the moments from last night in my head, almost making me laugh.
"You know, I still can't believe you got him to go with you. He swore up and down he'd never go to one of these things." Milan chuckles.
He said he doesn't mind." I smiled.
"Well, he'd do anything for you. They both would." Milan said. "Everything okay?"
"Yeah." I said.
"Did I push you into this? Y-You can tell me the truth." Milan asked with concern.
"Um, maybe? A little, at first."
"Ugh..." She sighed.
"No, but I-I wanted to make you happy." I said.
"Look, honestly, we don't even need to go tonight if you don't want to, okay?" Milan said holding on my hands.
"No, I-I want to go. I want to finish what I started. And I'm-I'm kind of proud to show everybody." I laugh softly
"I love you so much, beautiful girl." Milan chuckles. "Okay, um...When they take your photograph, remember, say "prune." It'll make your cheekbones look divine."
"Prune?" I asked.
"Prune." It's just an old trick I learned from Madonna. Or was it the Olsen twins?"
"Who are they?" I asked and Milan just stared at me blankly.
"They're moguls. They're fashion icons. They owned the early 2000s. They're sisters with the Scarlet Witch." She explained but I still had no idea what she was talking about.
"Oh." I laugh
"Yeah, okay. Okay, now, meet me downstairs. There's a surprise for you." Milan said before leaving my room.
I finished my coffee and walked downstairs to hear laughing. That's when I saw a beautiful white dress hung up in front of me. And it was exactly what I would've wanted.
