28. Bits From Motherhood : Withered Friendship

"Ok guys, It's been almost two months since you joined us and well I am impressed by all of your performance as interns" General manager praised in his professional tone while scanning all new recruits.

"You must remember that we will be promoting selected numbers from you all for the role of shift leader after evaluating your performance at the end of sixth month. All the best." Everyone including Misty nodded with excitement hearing prospects of their promotion.

Working at such an elite place was not at all easy for Misty, as this hotel filled with rich tourists required nothing but perfection. More than half of the candidates had their internship terminated in the first month itself for tiniest of mistakes, so Misty literally thanked God by the end of each day for saving her job.

Things were more hectic at her work since some VVIP had booked an entire floor and almost everyone at hotel wanted to impress the special guest at all cost.

Since the beginning of her job, Misty was assigned for that particular floor with duties like delivering the ordered food and arrange the dining table everyday for ge special guest/guests...and as weird as it sounds she never found anyone around while doing so.

Though she felt relieved for not getting face to face with some rich stuck up guest, Misty still felt paranoid with the feeling of being watched.

Hell she even felt uneasy back at her apartment. The building association suddenly got enough funds after years to fully paint the residential building as well as go on full repair mode with chocked and broken pipelines, changing fused lights from alleyways and putting security cameras all around.

She was particularly baffled when the building's secretary knocked her door one saturday to ask her if they were bothering her or her son by all the noise and that she could share if she has any electrical problems or plumbing issues so they can get it fixed for free on society's fund.

Ray started his school just a week back and was successful in making new friends too. He couldn't stop talking about what he and his friends did at school. Misty was happy to get her first months salary before Ray started his new school, as it helped her plan through all the extra costs.

Anyways she changed her uniform into simple jeans and top while holding her hair in high ponytail. She was in rush to pick up Ray from his school on time as well as buy some groceries on her way.

Misty paced as soon as she reached the school premises, passing through crowd of parents and kids. Misty finally found her son standing beside his class teacher holding her hand and waving at her furiously with his other hand.

"Mumma" he hugged her as soon as she got close making both mother and teacher laugh.

"Baby you had a good day?" She asked lovingly to which he nodded his tiny head.

"Miss Misty I was waiting to discuss something important with you regarding Ray." His teacher spoke getting Misty's attention.

"I hope he hasn't been naughty." Misty asked as she knew how notorious her son was.

"No not at all, rather it's about a recent education programme which can benefit Ray." She informed before handing over a thin file to Misty.

" we had to choose kids who were good with studies and sports, thus overall performance and pass on their name to this educational programme.
For kids of Ray's age group, parent's financial condition was a decisive factor among the kids general activeness, so we choose Ray too.
This programme would bear his entire school fees and upgrade him to an elite school nearby." She added getting Misty excited with each word.
