~Six days later~
The day of the party had finally arrived. I was dreading this day so much. Mostly because It was the second time I had ever gone to a party. I was also nervous because I really liked Tracy and didn't want to lose her. I don't know if it was a relief or disappointment, but the only thing I saw in the hall was Lindsey and her friend Kat.
"Hey, have yall heard any news of the party tonight?" I asked them.
"Oh, You know Trent's friend from home, the one who jumped in the alligator lake or whatever?"
"Oh I remember" I said. What an idiot.
"Well he said that Trent isn't actually going, it's going to be an all girls party basically. A couple of boys will be there if they were invited but besides that, this is a girls rule and boys drool sort of thing." Kat replied.
I felt relieved that less dudes will be there. I didn't want to ruin this for myself so the less guys the better.
"Oh, well I guess I'll go to this party with Tracy" I said.
"Just make sure you take care of her, She's a good girl, and if you let her get away with stuff, well you won't be her first anymore will you?" Kat joked.
Lindsey elbowed her and tried to let her know that it wasn't funny.
"Come on Lindsey I was kidding. You know how I'm into that kinda humor."
Lindsey did not think it was as funny as she did.
Kat looked over at me "Sorry that was not a good joke for me to make."
"It's fine" I answered. I knew Kat was always making dark jokes like that.
"Anyways Lindsey, I think I'll be getting a ride with Tiffany later on, so have fun" Kat said with her eyes focused on Lindsey.
She was ignoring me as she continued to talk to Lindsey. I left them in a hurry seeing that it was time for my first class. I sat at my usual seat, right in the back left corner of the classroom. I saw Tracy walk in. She sat just two seats to my right.
I was really starting to noticed her more and more ever since she asked me to take her to the party. I looked at her more lustfully than I used to. I looked at her beauty. Her smile was the only thing I could think about. It brought light to the empty room in my mind.
I looked down at my watch, I had seven hours until the party. Until the drinking and the partying happens. I had seven hours until I might lose her. I had to show her how I felt. Before it was too late.
I was looking at her for too long. Since no one was sitting in between us, we could see each other clearly. She had definitely caught me looking at her. She side eyed me, then looked away. I saw a little bit of red rush up into her cheeks. She had always been so outgoing that I had never really seen her blush or anything like that. Maybe she liked me as much as a liked her.
As the teacher began talking, I looked over at Tracy to get her attention. I started to mouth what the the teacher was saying in a joking manner. She let out a giggle and tried to hide it by lifting her homework. I bent down in order to get out of the teachers gaze. I looked over at her and saw her grab a white board and marker from under her desk. She wrote on it and flashed it over to me.
"Wanna sit together at lunch?" It wrote.
I smiled back at her in response and nodded my head. She smiled and jokingly pumped her fist like she had just accomplished something awesome. To be honest, she kinda did. Believe it or not we never really sat together at lunch. The lunch room was split up into clicks. It was the nerd group, the jock group, and the I don't care about clicks group. Each of these clicks had a boys variant and a girls variant. Tracy sat in the popular girls group which she fit really well into even though she never really wanted to be popular. I sat in the I don't care about clicks group because, well, I didn't really care.
Throughout the rest of the classes, we kept looking over at each other. If I noticed her looking at me, she looked away. If she saw me looking at her, I looked away. Eventually it got to lunch time and I looked at my watch, watching the time slowly tick away. Each time the hand moved my heart would beat a little faster, and my mind would move a little slower.
I sat down at the long table reserved for people who didn't really have a group to sit with. I was not near many people and if someone had wanted to sit down, I would have saved my seat for her.
I saw her walk in, her brunette hair falling carefully over her shoulders. Her dimples moving as she searched around the room for me. I made eye contact with her and motioned for her to come over. She gave me a gesture as if I needed to wait a couple seconds. I watched as she went over to her group of popular girls.
I couldn't believe it. Was she really just leaving me here.
I saw her talk to them for a couple of seconds before she turned away and started walking towards me.
My heart skipped with each step she took. She was a beautiful girl.
We greeted each other and started talking. I mentioned stuff about college and she mentioned things about her family. Overall it was a very productive conversation.
I knew that soon I had to build up the nerve to make a move. I needed to hold her hand, put my arm around her, or do anything like that. I felt like I was running out of time.
