Chapter 19

"You're my sister's kid, right?" Thanatos asks.

"Is your sister Nemesis?" You return a question.

"Yes, so you are her kid?"

"Yes, you're the god of death why are you here."

"Because your impulsive broken mind decided to take over 400 milligrams of oxycodone which caused an overdose. Don't worry Hade's wants me to keep you on earth with the mortals, but he is angry you wasted his gift of life in the span of 72 hours."

"What do you want then?"

"To give you some perspective. You are very powerful but like a true god, your flaws remain in the emotions you feel not only towards and for the mortals but because of the mortals. The greatest downfall of gods has always been mortals, more specifically falling in love with them. You are very much like your mother, her love for mortals caused her to have flaws but she protected them almost more than she did the gods, that is why you are most like her."

"I don't kill people like her."

"She didn't use to kill people." He finally lands in the time-frozen room you reside in.

"She was a good person, a good goddess. Something changed her and I have yet to figure it out. You are in line to take over for her but you can't do that if you keep dying because we will not keep you from death every time."

"What if I don't want to be a god."

"I know you don't so I will tell you this, your brothers and sisters the ones you have yet to meet, are worse than the mother that you saw. They will kill everyone you love and more. You however believe in true justice, the justice that isn't handed out to people who have made mistakes but the people who choose to create evil." He walks closer to you.

"Why would I want to stay here?"

"Well for one those companions of yours, and then of course the love for the witch."

"She doesn't love me back."

"You are quite wrong." He unfreezes time, Yelena finds you unconscious with a pool of vomit filling your airway. She rushes over to you demanding FRIDAY to call Banner to come to your room instantly, you interrupt what Thanatos is trying to show you.

"This doesn't prove she loves me this proves Yelena does."

"Would you just wait, come with me." He brings you down to the dining area where everyone resides, FRIDAY speaks over the intercom.

"Mr.Banner you are needed with the prescription Narcan in Y/N's room immediately, he is unresponsive."

"Now look at her face and tell me that is the face of someone who doesn't love you." You look at her, instantly her body springs up faster than Banner, but she is pulled down by John. His grip was so controlling, you have never seen someone handle her like that.

"What the fuck did he just do!"

"Oh that's another reason for you to stay, justice must be served to that man. John Walker is evil, he will end up killing your love if you stay dead."

"Why didn't you lead with that?!"

"So you want to stay now?"

"Yes, what do I have to do?"

"Well with me, nothing. I am not Hade's so I don't make deals, I grant passage. But you should gather control of those powers."

"I thought I didn't have them." Thanatos chuckles at this statement.

"Hade's wanted to make sure your heart was pure, you valued love and mortal life over power and being a god. Some of your powers have been revoked as they were only connected to you through your mother, and your ability to change weapons is gone along with the ability to open portals. Your wings stay, you are the best example of what an angel should be. Your swords stay as well, those to serve justice to the evil. Your strength, that one is tricky."

"What do you mean?"

"Your strength does not come from your bloodline rather it comes from your need to protect. It will not always be present, it will only come when you need it the most." He brings you back to your room where Banner is giving you Narcan and Yelena is being held by Natasha. Illyana crying in the hallway and Tony searching for any other drugs.

"You might have not grown up with a family, but this is as much as a family can get. Most gods have a complex family life, most gods don't have a family at all. You do, you have many people that love you including your mom whether you believe that or not is up to you. Try not to die or to sabotage yourself to the point of death, Hade's will not always be so generous."

"Yes sir."

"Are you ready to go back now?"

"Yes sir." You answer as you stare at your body.

"Oh and one last thing, all of these people are going to be massively pissed at you for this. But remember that anger does not come out of hate it comes from love, they will forgive you if you put in the work not only to change but to fix the hurt you have caused."

"What if it can't be fixed?"

"Anything can be fixed if you care enough about it to fix it." He says as he whips out the scythe, he pounds it onto the floor causing a flash of light to emit from it sending you back to your body.

When you get back the taste of vomit resonates on your tongue, you cough, and the vomit exits your airways. Banner sighs and Yelena removes herself from Natasha's embrace.

"ARE YOU FUCKING DUMB!" She storms towards you, Natasha holding her back to drag her out of the room.

"I'm sorry." You say quietly as your throat emerges with a lump of regret.

"Glad you are okay, now any more drugs in this room I should know about?" Tony says getting straight to the point.

"Tony give the guy a break he just technically died again." Banner defends.

"No I flushed the rest, you can look everywhere but that was all." You answer over Banner's defense.

"Where did you get them, and are you still Y/N, or are you Nemesis."

"I got them from Yelena's medicine cabinet, and no I am not my mother. I just... I'm in pain." Tony's demeanor changes from strict to comforting.

"I know you have been through a lot, sometimes drugs silence the loudness of your mind. But it doesn't fix it, and neither does running away. You will have to face this pain, but it is your choice whether you want to do it alone or not." He and Banner walk out of your room leaving you alone. You grab a mop and clean the vomit from your floor, from an outside view this looked like a suicide attempt and even from an inside view, it gave off that vibe. Thanatos was right, anything can be fixed including this pain.
