Chapter 28

ATHENA'S POV

You went to the gym for training, even though you didn't need it you still wanted to go. The only person who was there was Yelena, she was using the punching bag. You walked up to her, as you touched her shoulder she grabbed your wrist flipping you onto your back.

"Shit, sorry!" She says when she realizes it's you.

"You're good." You get back up. "Where is everyone else?"

"I don't know, you can fight right?" You scoff at this question.

"I'm the goddess of war, of course, I can fight."

"Want to spar?"

"Sure." You and her get into fighting positions, and she throws the first punch which you dodge quickly. You hear her breathe and exhale with each force she throws, you continue to avoid. You decide to go on the offensive and swing at her. This proves to be a mistake as she catches your arm mid-swing, throwing you onto the ground. She gets on top of you, you get flustered as you feel her warmth on your waist. You snap back into the zone, flipping her onto her back and pinning her arms above her head. You hear your heartbeat fasten as her eyes look directly at yours. You let your guard down for a split second when she regains control, locking you in a submissive position. Her head right next to yours, you turn to her face not knowing what you are going to do but your body leans in. Before your lips could meet hers a male voice interrupts you.

"Hey, have you guys seen Y/N? Wanda can't find him." Tony states from the door.

"Didn't they spend the night together?" Yelena states.

"Yea, but Wanda went to go get breakfast for the two of them, and when she returned he was gone."

"Well, I'm sure he couldn't have gotten far." You chuckle at this getting up.

"He has wings and is pretty fast, he could be anywhere right now. However, Hermes and I would know if someone entered or exited the wards. He hasn't so, that means he's still on the property. I'll go help look for him." You say as you head out the door, you hear footsteps behind you and you realize Yelena is close behind.

"What are you doing?" You ask behind you.

"Coming with you, he's my best friend so."

"Okay, where do you think he went?"

"He likes the roof, if not there check the beach."

"I'll take the roof and you take the beach."

"Alright." You and her part ways as you climb the stairs to the roof, when you reach the roof access door you open it to an empty roof. You take this opportunity to look over the landscape trying to see if you can spot him. You spot Yelena on the beach alone, he wasn't there. You leave the roof and go outside to Yelena.

"Wasn't on the roof?"

"Nope, where could he be?"

"I don't know." She sits down having lost hope, you sit next to her letting her rest her head on your shoulder. You think of one more spot he might be, you know he was curious about the extent of his power.

"Do you guys have a lab?" You ask.

"Yea, why?"

"I think he might be there, can you bring me there?"

"Yea let's go." You and her enter the building once again making your way to the lab, to your shock you see him balled up in the corner. Glass is riddled around the room, and droplets of blood cover the floor. You get closer to him and notice his hand is bleeding, he's holding it close to his chest as he rocks back and forward. You gently approach him taking his hand to check out the damage, you can't quite hear what he's saying but he keeps muttering something to himself. He has lost his mind, and you know why.

Y/N'S POV

1 HOUR EARLIER

You wake up to an empty bed once again, your head is killing you as the sun beams directly into your eyes. You get out of bed but are stopped when you hear a faint voice calling for you, you follow this voice to the eighth floor. You have never been to this floor but when you enter you are met with a large lab. You look around at the clean items organized on the various tables, you look at the reflection of yourself in the glass. You see something but can't make out what it is. You step closer to see and then are shocked to see the siblings you killed standing behind you. You quickly turn around to see their decaying corpses stepping closer to you, you try to summon your swords but nothing happens.

"This isn't real, this isn't real." You say to yourself over and over again.

"Oh little brother, this is very real," Helen says as she throws a beaker toward your head. You dodge it and when you resurface another flies your way, you stop it with your hand causing it to break on impact. The glass slashes your hand as you continue to dodge the other objects thrown your way. You are backed into a corner, you cover your head and curl into a ball. You keep repeating to yourself that this isn't real, you feel someone grab your hand. You see it's Athena, you continue to tell yourself it's not real just in case. Yelena and Athena bring you down to the medical ward to fix up your cuts, you don't know what's happening to you but you feel as if you are losing your mind. You fall asleep in the hospital bed waiting for Wanda.

You are awoken by voices speaking, you make out what they say faintly.

"Something is seriously wrong with him, he's gonna get us all killed if he keeps this up." You notice the voice to be Yelena's. Your heart sinks, and you hold back your tears as they enter the room. You pretend to be asleep as Wanda approaches you stroking your hair, you open your eyes expecting to see her beauty but are terrified when you see her with her throat slashed. You fall out of bed and run out of the room trying to once again find the closest exit. Wanda follows suit.

"Y/N stop!" You don't listen continuing to run. You turn the corner and she's standing there, her eyes don't belong to her. You start to hyperventilate as her bloody body reaches you. You shut your eyes, continuing once again to remind yourself this isn't real. When you open them again the blood is gone, her face struck with worry. Tears run down her face as she looks at you like a stranger, you hug her scared of everything around you. She whispers something in your ear.

"I never loved you... I hate you more than I hate anything." This shakes you to your core, then you remember what she said:

"I could never hate you."

"You aren't Wanda." You say back to the stranger, you remember that Athena said your final sibling could get into your mind and cause you to feel so alone.

"Archelaus, come on out you cunt." You demand the false space before you.
