So Close... Just—-

I felt a pair of strong arms pull me out of the water.

No.

"Please Please, Don't die." He repeated as he laid me against the warm sand.

Images passed through my mind. Water was still making it hard to breathe. I still felt numb, now cold.

Why. Why did he stop me. I wasn't far from flying away. I was just so close. This is what I wanted what I deserved.

"No, stay with me!" He yelled as he resuscitated me. His strong hands pumping my chest. He put his mouth on my mouth. CPR.

I felt water rise up in my throat. Trying to come out.

This really hurt. I coughed as the water came fully up and out. I cough so hard, everything hurt. My throat ached. I tried gasping for air, but I felt as if I was still dying.

He tilted up my head.

"Are you okay?!" The stranger said in a panicked tone.

I didn't respond. I was so mad, I just wan't happy. Why didn't he just leave me there? Mind his own damn business! I kept gasping for air. I didn't want to be here. I really didn't.

He carried me bridal style.

Shouldn't I panic. I mean this is a total stranger he could be taking me to some place where he'll lock me up.

But I couldn't do anything. I couldn't feel my body. I couldn't react to anything.

***************************

We didn't walk far. We walked into this house that was right near the beach. Near the board walk.

I was placed on a bed.

"Sleep" The random stranger said.

And with that I fell into a deep sleep.

"Drink." A husky yet sexy voice says.

"Lucas?" I question.

He chuckles. "No."

I manage to open my eyes, when I notice a stranger. Pain shot through my head. I squinted my eyes.

"Drink." He said again motioning the cup toward my mouth.

The liquid touched my lips.

Poison?

No, water.

I grabbed the cup and drank the cold water. My head still ached. Arghh.....

Once I finished the cup, he was still watching me. When he noticed me staring at him. He smiled.

"Joseph."

"What?"

"I know you wanted to know my name, its Joseph."

Wow. Mind reader much?

"I'm a life guard, and I live in here. All my life actually. Not in this place specifically, but in this small town." He said.

"Oh, so we're telling life stories now?"

"Haha, well yes. What's your name beautiful?"

Beautiful.

Beautiful.

Beautiful.

Is that what he said? No. That was a lie.

"Please don't call me that, and it's Julia. Julia Diaz."

"Why not? Your beautiful, Diaz."

"Stop."

"Why should I stop saying what is true."

I rolled my eyes.

"All my life, I was told that was a lie. You may think you know me, but you don't know a single thing okay, Joseph."

"Wow," He shot up his arms in surrender "I didn't mean no harm."

"Why?"

"Why what?"

I ask a lot of questions don't I?

"Why did you do that. Why did you save me?" I asked.

"Because I knew you wanted to die, I could tell by the way I looked into your eyes when you started to breathe again. But you were meant to be saved. You have a better life ahead of you, Diaz. Don't throw it all away."

"You don't know that. I'm sick of living this life. I'm worthless and pathetic don't you see. See the god damn bruises don't act like they're not there." I yelled.

He looked down. Sadness painted all over his face.

"I'm sorry." He whispered.

I felt sorry too, but I couldn't help it.

"That's what everyone says. But sorry doesn't help it." I snapped.

He looked up and caught my eye. I then noticed his features.

He was tall, dark brown hair. Justin bieber style? No cuter. He had perfect tanned light skin. Eyes were hazel, but looked like a dark brown. I don't know. He was muscular. Seemed even older too. 19 or 20 maybe? Something about him made him spark. Don't get me started on his smile.

I broke the eye contact and looked away. You could just get lost into his eyes.

"Look I should go." I whispered looking away. I didn't want to meet his sad looking eyes.

"No please stay. I want to get to know you. Just for the night."

I looked at him his eyes were a hint of sadness, but he tried to smile. He had a story. I could tell.

Isn't this weird?

Staying at a strangers house.

But he didn't feel like a stranger.

Not to me at least.

He showed something that looked familiar. Something I've seen everyday. I just couldn't put my finger onto it.

"Fine." I said as he gave me some clothes to change in.

His clothes.
