Need Love

Chapter 18

"So?"

"So.." He wiggles his eyebrows up and down.

"Hmm.. Sooo.." I laugh.

"Wanna go sleep under the stars?" He says all happy, with a bright smile you could just fall in love with.

"Sure." I smile.

He grabs my arm and pulls me outside. I didn't object. It felt good to be happy. Even if it was just for a night. I feel like I can be happy tonight.

The thought of Lucus comes rushing toward my head, I quickly push the image and the thoughts back.

We sit down on the grass. In his small little back yard. I hear the ocean. So soothing as I listen to the sound of the waves. Waves fighting for something. Something that's hiden below. The waves that tell a story.

"Joseph." I whisper.

"Yes."

"You expect us too sleep under the stars with no blankets?"

"Oh, yeah. I thought we'd share our skin."

"God, No."

He runs back into the house. I was all alone. In the darkness. But it was a beautiful sight. The stars were what gave us light. Even with someone to spend time with, watching the stars.

Something I've never done in forever.

"Baby girl, Let's go outside and sleep under the beautiful stars" she says as she tickles me.

"Ma' I love the stars. Daddy?"

"Yes, baby." My father says.

"Your invited to our sleep over too." I giggle.

"Isn't that what girls do?"

I laugh. "I don't mind you being one of us."

"Hun, your father is a man. He's too cool for us." My mother says.

"Fine. But I'm tough too, Ma' does that make me a man?"

"Baby, Your not a boy." She says.

"Oh." I pout. I can't be tough?

She grabs my arm, and grabs blankets and juice boxes. We head out to the front lawn.

Ma' put the blankets on the grass and we lay down onto it as we grab the other blanket and cover our skin with it. To keep us warmth.

"Look, baby girl. The dipper." She smiles. She's beautiful.

"Ma' The big dipper and the Little dipper."

"Mhm."

"I want to go visit a star."

"One day, hun. One day. Together we will both go visit a star. Just one day." She says as I smile thinking about my mother and I taking selfies on the moon.

"Earth to Julia." Joseph says.

"What, oh."

"I've been trying to get your attention. What's wrong."

"I don't know, I'm sorry."

"Haha, Here." He hands me popcorn.

He lays the blankets down as we lay next to each other.

Hes gotten Hot chocolate, candy, and popcorn for us. This is what I needed.

"I like stars." He says in a low whisper.

"Me too." I smile.

"It-- reminds me of your uh.. eyes." He stutters.

I smile. "Really?"

"Yeah, they're beautiful." He chuckles.

I turn my head toward him and we just stare at each others eyes for a while.

I feel like I can do this all the time. I wish to, at least.

He stares at me like I'm treasure. He looks at me. I feel like I'm wanted.

"Julia." he whispers as he comes closer to my face.

"Joseph." I say breathlessly.

Our forehead's touch.

"Stay with me." He says.

"I will." I say as I'm drawn to his eyes.

His lips come closer. I couldn't move. As his lips touched mine and mine touched his. There was no stopping us now.

He kissed me, and I won't lie. It was a kiss I never had before. Tingles went through my spine. Everything felt like a dream.

He pulled me on top of him as we kissed endlessly.

He wrapped his arms around my waist. His strong arms.

I felt comfort from all around. Butterflies in my stomache.

I liked this feeling.

I never wanted it to end.
