"What are you doing here?!"
Cerise opened her mouth to give an excuse, but closed it again as she couldn't really think of anything.
"I just came to check on you," Maddie suddenly spoke up, unknowingly saving Cerise from having to explain as it seems.
Raven finally sat down next to Maddie. "And let me guess, my mother sent you here to check on me?"
Cerise winced at the mention of Reina.
She won't say it to Raven, but after hearing what the woman had done and how drastic the changes she has gone through for her family, she believes that Reina did love her daughter. She has seen how the woman worked. Cerise knew that Reina would do everything for Raven.
Maddie bit her lip. "She actually told me to stay away because--"
"School is dangerous?" Raven interrupted.
And Cerise also knew that the woman just doesn't really know how to express it in the right way.
"Actually, she told me that after she said to me that I would just get into trouble if I wander off alone," Maddie tried to reason.
Raven groaned. "I can't believe that I'm saying this, but she's right about that," she said. "And you won't be the only one who will get into trouble if you get caught."
She then looked up at Cerise.
"How did she talk you into doing this?"
Cerise bit her lip. "I…"
"I was thinking of helping her with the brewing and… some stuff?" Maddie spoke up, making Cerise look at her in shock.
"What?!" Raven whispered, her voice dripping with shock.
"I just haven't said it to her."
"Maddie, you really don't have to," Cerise spoke.
"But I also want to learn magic," Maddie argued. "I'm getting the feeling that Reina is a busy woman, so she might not be able to teach me anything at all."
Raven snorted. "Yeah, trust me. She won't be able to do that. She barely even had time for my--"
"RAVEN QUEEN!" Rumpelstiltskin yelled from the front of the room. "STOP CHATTING WITH MS. HOOD AND THE NEW STUDENT!!!"
Raven slumped on her chair.
"Sorry," Maddie and Cerise whispered at the same time.
Raven waved a hand. "No, it's fine. They always add it to my hextra credit because they think that I'm doing something evil. Even if I really don't want to be evil."
Cerise reached her hand out to the black-haired girl and patted her on the shoulder. Making Raven look at her.
Cerise offered a sympathetic smile, to which Raven only returned with a small one.
"NOW!" The tiny man's loud voice almost made Cerise jump off of her seat. "FOR YOUR ACTIVITY TODAY…"
At the mention of those words, Cerise pulled her hand back and slumped on her chair.
"Not again…"
"You know, my offer to help is still up if you want it," Maddie whispered.
"Thanks," Cerise cracked a smile. "But there is a slim chance that Professor Rumpelstiltskin would make us do group work--"
"GROUP WITH YOUR SEATMATES AND PERFORM THE EXPERIMENT ON PAGE 257 OF YOUR HEXTBOOK!!!"
Wow. Cerise didn't hexpect that.
